Job description

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for their Campus Security (P/T) position, in the Public Safety Division. This position is located at ATC's Main Campus, which is just South of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision, Campus Security (P/T) patrols assigned areas and ensures safety of campus buildings and grounds for a technical college. Manages traffic flow and enforces parking regulations. Security Officer must at all times contact Campus Police, of any of the following Incidents: Traffic Accidents, Vandalism, Thefts and any other Criminal Acts committed on the Atlanta Technical College. Campus Security Officers will perform administrative duties, patrol an assigned area and check Campus buildings for unauthorized personnel during opening and after closing hours. Campus Security Officers must be able to work independently and make common sense decisions and follow policy. This position is a highly-visible, Public Relations Position and requires the applicant to be courteous, polite, and informative to the Faculty, Students and Citizens that visit the Atlanta Technical College. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Campus Security Officers must possess the following: ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical materials, and/or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence and instructional materials; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, managers, and the general public; ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of both concrete and abstract ideas. Must have and maintain a valid Driver's License; maintain automobile insurance coverage; and have consistent access to an automobile. Campus Security Officers must meet the following Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate instructional equipment and computers. The employee may lift and/or move objects up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance, close, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus. All applicants, if selected will receive on the job training, in turning Alarm Systems On/Off Checking Campus Doors and Buildings, and Writing Security Reports. College, Current College Students, Criminal Justice Students
Minimum Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate a High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
Must possess and demonstrate the ability to work well with others and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be available to work Weekends, Days, Evenings, Mornings and must be willing to be On-Call. In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, preference may be given to applicants who possess and demonstrate previous working experience in a safety monitoring environment, or law enforcement or military experience. Must possess and demonstrate the ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Must possess and demonstrate the ability to conduct investigations and prepare reports, in addition to enforcing campus regulations.
