Security Officer

Discovery Land Company is seeking a Security Officer to join the Security Department at The Summit Club in Las Vegas, NV. Summit Security Officers are a part of a highly professional team of safety, security and medical providers and are encouraged to contribute their knowledge and skill sets for the benefit of the community and department. Summit Security Officers are responsible for the safety and well-being of all members, guests, and employees at The Summit Club. Summit Security Officers are responsible for deterring, detecting and responding to potential or active threats directed at Summit members, guests, employees, and property. Summit Security Officers must be prepared to act accordingly within the guidelines set forth by the Summit Security Department policy.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe and secure residential and working environments for all members, guests and employees by identifying, treating, and reducing threats and workplace risks.
  • Conduct quarterly proficiency and development training to include quarterly firearm qualification, tactics training, as well as monthly sustainment training.
  • Maintain the training standards which include Use of Force knowledge and application, firearm application, Defensive Tactics, mechanical restrains, search procedures, expandable batons, OC Spray and application, crisis management and emergency response.
  • Ability to conduct a seamless entry for all authorized individuals into property.
  • Prevent unauthorized access to the property and use of its facilities.
  • Providing a medical response capability to members, guests and employees while on club property.
  • Investigate and respond to any significant incidents or incidents requested by the Security Operation Center (SOC).
  • Providing emergency management advice in the event of a natural disaster event.
  • Adhere to all company service and operating standards.
  • Remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Enforce the club's health and safety policies to all members, guests, and employees.
  • Maintaining the personal "concierge" security approach for all members, guests, and employees while on property.
  • Become versed in Use of Force application as dictated by the company's Use of Force policy.
  • Effectively manage Use of Force incidents, limiting liability, minimizing disruptions, and preventing member, guest, and employee injuries.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in Armed Security, Law Enforcement, or Military (4 years minimum).
  • Prior experience and training with relevant firearms and defensive tactics.
  • Valid Concealed Weapons Permit (CCW) or HR 218 must be obtained prior to employment.
  • Valid Nevada Driver's License.
  • Valid Armed PILB License.
  • Clear Criminal Background.
  • High school diploma, GED, or higher education.
  • Must be able to work and stand inside/outside during all weather conditions.
  • Able to physically restrain individuals when the condition to detain exists.
  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, along with a working knowledge of basic computer functions and programs (Word, Excel, Outlook Email, etc.)
  • Have the ability to work calmly and efficiently in high duress situations.

Firearm Qualification: Each round fired is worth a maximum of 5 points. The shooter will be awarded 5 points for any hits that are inside of the "ten ring" or break the line of the "ten ring". The shooter will be awarded 4 points for any hits outside of the "ten ring", but inside of the "nine ring" or that break the line of the "nine ring." All other hits on paper outside of the "nine ring" or off the target are worth zero points. Shooters must achieve a score of 80% or 140 points out of 175 total points possible to pass.

Disclaimer and Probationary Period: This position is subject to a 90-day probationary period beginning on the date of hire. During this time, performance and suitability for the role will be assessed. Employment beyond the probationary period is contingent on satisfactory performance and adherence to club standards.
