Job description

We made history and now we work to transform the future - for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Do you believe data tells the real story? We do! Redefining mobility requires quality data, metrics and analytics, as well as insightful interpreters and analysts. That's where Global Data Insight & Analytics makes an impact. We advise leadership on business conditions, customer needs and the competitive landscape. With our support, key decision makers can act in meaningful, positive ways. Join us and use your data expertise and analytical skills to drive evidence-based, timely decision making.

In this position...

We are seeking a Data Scientist for the Charging & Energy Services Analytics Foundational Data team within Ford's Global Data Insights & Analytics (GDIA) division. Our team partners with cross-functional business and engineering partners who support electric vehicle programs where timelines are tight and decisions are data-driven. We transform high-volume connected vehicle data into clear insights that unblock engineering and accelerate product milestones.

This role is a hands-on, high-impact data science partner to drive stakeholder decisions. You will lead the flow of data from vehicle sensor outputs to making it actionable for engineers-owning the request intake, building data features in a production data product, and ensuring our pipelines are reliable, efficient, and trustworthy.

What you'll do...

  • Serve as the technical bridge between vehicle sensor data and metrics that inform actionable engineering decisions, communicating findings with clarity and urgency.
  • Ingest, transform, and analyze large datasets to support the team in launching data products in Ford's Enterprise Data Platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Acquire a deep understanding of complex engineering and business problems and translate them into scalable AI/ML solutions.
  • Design, develop, and implement end-to-end AI/ML pipelines, from data ingestion and preprocessing to model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Diagnose regression issues and test case failures using data analysis to identify root causes, quantify scope, and recommend fixes.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity of the data pipeline; investigate anomalies that could affect engineering insights.

You'll have...

  • Bring high energy and passion for the electric vehicle domain to help the team meet fast-paced demands. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and bias to action.
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related quantitative field; OR a Master's degree (M.S.) in one of these fields with a minimum of 2 years of research experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in AI/ML, with proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models in a production environment.
  • 2+ years of experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) with solutions designed and implemented at production scale, leveraging data engineering tools and services (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Cloud Composer).
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and manipulation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Even better, you may have...

  • Strong expertise in data engineering
  • Expertise in battery engineering and the electric vehicle charging domain
  • A record of publications or presentations in recognized journals or conferences
  • Experience in fast-paced automotive or hardware development environments
  • Experience in Generative AI, including a strong understanding of ML frameworks, algorithms, and practical implementation

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home? Will your career be a deep dive into what you love, or a series of new teams and new skills? Will you be a leader, a changemaker, a technical expert, a culture builder...or all of the above? No matter what you choose, we offer a work life that works for you, including:

Immediate medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage

Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized back-up child care and more

Family building benefits including adoption and surrogacy expense reimbursement, fertility treatments, and more

Vehicle discount program for employees and family members and management leases

Tuition assistance

Established and active employee resource groups

Paid time off for individual and team community service

A generous schedule of paid holidays, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day

Paid time off and the option to purchase additional vacation time.

This position is a salary grade 5 - salary grad 8 and ranges from $68,300-$192,900.
