DRIVER

Part-Time | Baltimore, MD and Surrounding Areas


Position Summary

Redefining the Future Network (RTFNetwork) is seeking a reliable, professional, and compassionate Driver to assist with transporting clients to and from appointments, programs, and services. The Driver plays a vital role in supporting client access to behavioral health services by ensuring safe, timely, and courteous transportation. Candidates must prioritize client safety, confidentiality, and dignity at all times while representing RTFNetwork's mission and values.


Core Competencies

RTFNetwork expects all Drivers to demonstrate proficiency in the following five competencies. These competencies define the standard of performance and professional conduct required for this role.


1. Client Safety & Professionalism

  • Consistently prioritizes the physical safety and emotional well-being of all clients during transport.
  • Operates the vehicle in full compliance with traffic laws, RTFNetwork policies, and behavioral health transportation standards.
  • Treats every client with dignity, patience, and respect regardless of presenting needs.


2. Confidentiality & HIPAA Compliance

  • Upholds client privacy at all times by following HIPAA guidelines and organizational confidentiality protocols.
  • Does not disclose client identities, destinations, or health-related information to unauthorized individuals.
  • Demonstrates discretion in all verbal and written communications related to client transport.


3. Reliability & Accountability

  • Demonstrates consistent punctuality, dependability, and follow-through on assigned duties.
  • Maintains accurate transportation logs.
  • Promptly reports scheduling changes, vehicle concerns, or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Proactively completes pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections without prompting.


4. Cultural Humility & Trauma-Informed Practice

  • Approaches each client interaction with cultural sensitivity and an awareness of how trauma, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders may affect behavior and communication.
  • Maintains a calm, non-judgmental, and supportive presence during transport that reflects RTFNetwork's commitment to healing and empowerment.


5. Communication & Team Collaboration

  • Communicates effectively with supervisors, clinical staff, and clients to ensure seamless coordination of transportation services.
  • Actively participates in required trainings and staff meetings.
  • Raises concerns, schedule conflicts, or client needs through appropriate organizational channels in a timely and professional manner.


Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport clients to and from scheduled appointments, program activities, and other approved destinations.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients during transit while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and supportive environment for all clients during transport.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure vehicles are clean, safe, and properly maintained.
  • Communicate scheduling changes, delays, or incidents to the appropriate supervisor immediately.
  • Assist clients with entering and exiting the vehicle, when needed.
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs, including pick-up/drop-off times and client attendance.
  • Follow confidentiality protocols in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
  • Attend required trainings and staff meetings related to transportation and client services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Maryland driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of driving experience preferred (experience transporting clients in healthcare or behavioral health settings is a plus).
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to professionalism, client safety, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, if needed, to assist clients with mobility challenges.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.


Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with individuals with mental health, developmental, or physical disabilities.
  • Familiarity with Baltimore City and surrounding areas.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.


Work Environment

  • Primarily driving between client homes, RTFNetwork offices, and community locations.
  • Must be comfortable working in various weather conditions.
  • Must maintain flexibility to accommodate client needs, which may include occasional evening or weekend hours.
