Basic Function
This is a professional expert, short term temporary opportunity.
The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting passengers to and from scheduled college events, with an emphasis on transporting athletes, coaches, and staff to intercollegiate competition. The schedule for this position is primarily built around athletic game travel schedules and will be responsible for following a scheduled route, providing timely transport, and ensuring the safety of all passengers.
Representative Duties
  • Transport college students and staff to various events and activities.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition
  • Operates large passenger vans and buses
  • Maintaining all Department of Transportation paperwork required to include driver's logs.
  • Ability to work a variable schedule to accommodate day, evening, weekend, & holiday events and/or activities.
  • Performs other related duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or completion of GED and minimum of one year of experience in passenger transportation, school transportation, and/or driving for a charter company or municipality.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: (Must be provided upon hire)
  • Valid California Class B driver's license with passenger endorsement.
  • Current Medical Certificate (for DMV physical).
  • Driving record clean of any major infractions.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing.

Knowledge & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • California Department of Transportation regulations

ABILITY TO:
  • Transport all passengers to and from Cerro Coso Community College
  • Ability to transport during long distances, frequently greater than 200 miles round trip
  • Obey all traffic laws to ensure passengers arrive to their destination safely
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers when entering and leaving the bus
  • Speak, read, and write in English.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Work independently and cooperatively with others.
  • Observe health, safety, and CA driving regulations.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate equipment.
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally.
  • Sitting for extended prolonged periods of time.
  • Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching.
  • Use of step stool.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Driving a vehicle to conduct work.
