Job description

Transport Driver

The Driver is responsible for the timely pick-up, delivery, and transport of goods to and from Yumi locations.

Location: The Colony, Tx

Duration: Full-time

Loads or assists in loading the trailer with materials. Unloads or assists in unloading the trailer by using a forklift or hand truck.

Operates semi-truck with one trailer, according to state laws. Transports load over the required route to the proper destination, observing all traffic laws and safety regulations. Operate in various conditions including highway, urban, and rural driving safely and efficiently.

Comply with state, federal, and local regulations and company policies and procedures.

Performs miscellaneous service duties such as checking, daily, oil, water, gasoline, and air in tires. Reports any maintenance malfunctions to the Shop Manager.

Maintain trip envelope, daily vehicle inspection reports, and other required paperwork.

May use a hand truck to rearrange loads in the shipping department area.

May sweep out truck body on off-shifts.

May switch empty/full trailers in the shipping yard on off-shifts for optimum loading patterns on the following day.

Work is performed 50-80% on the road driving vehicle.

Driving in all types of weather, slippery surfaces, lifting hazards, exposure to moving vehicles and equipment, traffic hazards, fall hazards from work on dock and tailgate, fumes, odors, and some bouncing, jarring, vibration from truck operation.

Tools/Equipment Used: 10-15-ton truck, hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, carts, dollies, straps, lift gates, and pallets.

Safety Equipment: Seat belts, gloves, hearing and eye protection as required.

Able to drive both automatic and 10-speed manual vehicles.

Standing/Walking

Sitting: Frequently sitting in trailer cab for long periods while operating vehicle between Yumi locations.

Lift/Carry: May be required to lift and/or carry up to 65 pounds as needed.

Push/Pull: Frequently, using both hands and arms while moving materials via wheeled cart, exerting a force of up to 15-35 pounds depending on surface/slope. Seldom up to 35-75 pounds force moving palletized load using a pallet jack.

Climbing

Bending/Twisting: Constantly, at waist 30-45 while loading/unloading items.

Kneeling/Crouching

Hands/Arms: Constant use of both hands/arms throughout the work shift while forward reaching, handling, gripping, power grasping, fingering, and above-shoulder reaching.

Sight/Hearing/Speech: Constantly, required to ensure safe operation of the vehicle, and performing essential functions at Yumi locations.

Other Demands: Subject to cold temperatures -20 degrees F.

High School diploma or equivalent.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations.

Must have a valid class A CDL license.

Possess or ability to obtain a valid DOT medical certification.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

5 years tractor trailer experience.

Successful completion of post-offer background check, MVR, DOT drug screen, and DOT physical and physical abilities test.

Requires a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of tractor-trailers and in preventing damage to materials and trailer equipment.

Ability to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Ability to work overtime as needed.

Knowledge of the Department of Transportations requirements and regulations.

Adhere to the Company Dress Code (No visible tattoos or body piercing).

Tobacco/Smoke-Free Workplace / Smoking and or other tobacco use is prohibited in company vehicles.
