Build the Future of Automation

Applied Manufacturing Technologies (AMT) is a leading systems integrator and turnkey controls solutions provider delivering advanced automation across aerospace, alternative energy, food & beverage, rubber & plastics, automotive, material handling, and error-proofing industries.

Since 1989, AMT has built a reputation for solving complex manufacturing challenges with world-class engineering talent. We donโ€™t just integrate robots โ€” we engineer complete, production-ready systems that power the worldโ€™s most advanced manufacturers.

We are growing and seeking experienced Robotic Programmers who thrive in dynamic project environments and want to work on high-impact automation systems across diverse industries.

What Youโ€™ll Do

As a Robotic Programmer at AMT, youโ€™ll play a critical role in designing, programming, launching, and optimizing robotic automation systems.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Program, integrate, and debug robotic systems (robots & PLCs)

  • Support installation and startup of automated robotic systems

  • Lead production launch and on-site customer support

  • Develop cost-effective technical solutions while maintaining reliability

  • Review requirements, specifications, and system designs

  • Maintain customer specifications and manage deviations

  • Provide application expertise for material handling, machine tending, and vision-guided robotics

  • Develop integration tools and strategies to improve efficiency and reduce cost

  • Investigate and implement process and technology enhancements

Technical Expertise

Weโ€™re looking for hands-on experience in:

  • Industrial robots: FANUC, ABB, KUKA, or Motoman

  • PLC/HMI programming (Rockwell and Siemens preferred)

  • VFD and Servo control systems

  • Vision-guided robotics applications

  • Electromechanical systems integration

  • Automotive standards (GM, Ford, Stellantis/FCA preferred)

Advanced knowledge of robotic material handling and machine tending applications is highly desirable.

Travel Expectations
  • Approximately 60% travel to customer sites

  • Project-based assignments may require extended out-of-state work (returning home every other weekend)

  • Past projects have included Colorado, New York, and various U.S. locations

  • Headquarters located in Orion, Michigan

What You Bring
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial robot programming experience

  • Great attitude, confidence in your problem-solving ability, willingness to learn AND mentor others

Preferred experience with automation project installation, system design, programming, and commissioning.

Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Why AMT?

As a member of the AMT team, you can expect:

  • Comprehensive medical benefits (medical, dental, vision)

  • 401(k) with company match + Roth option

  • Company-paid long-term disability insurance

  • Life insurance coverage

  • Paid vacation and personal time

  • Paid holidays

  • Competitive compensation

  • Clear advancement opportunities

  • Exposure to diverse industries and cutting-edge applications

At AMT, youโ€™ll work alongside some of the best automation engineers in the industry โ€” solving real-world manufacturing challenges and launching systems that matter.
