Position Summary Information
Minimum Qualifications
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
License/Certification Required Essential Job Functions
If employee is assigned to work in a designated security sensitive area, employee is required to undergo an extensive background check under the administration of the ASU Police Department and complete a Security Awareness Training as required.
Floor Maintenance which consists, at a minimum, of daily sweeping, wet mopping, periodic spray-buffing and high speed burnishing, scheduled stripping and refinishing of resilient floors.
Restroom Sanitation which consists of, at a minimum, daily sweeping, mopping, cleaning mirrors, spot cleaning walls and stall partitions, applying disinfectant cleaners. Check and refill towel, soap, deodorant and tissue containers. Periodic scrubbing of all surfaces with hard brushes and floor scrubber. Scrubbing of fixture surfaces with hand pad and bowl cleaners.
Dusting, polishing and Spot cleaning which consists of, at a minimum, daily cleaning of all furniture including desks, chairs, bookshelves, filing cabinets, window sills and ledges, stair railings, etc. Cleaning of walls, boards, light fixtures, air handling units, blinds, ceilings and interior/exterior glass.
Vacuuming and Spot cleaning of carpeted floors which includes determining chemical and/or cleaner to be used for particular spots / spills.
Trash and debris which consists of, at a minimum, removal of trash, recycling and other foreign matter from trash containers and building surfaces. Replacement of trash can liners as needed. Removal of trash, snow and other debris from entrances, steps and sidewalks.
Chemicals, Supplies, and Equipment involves the proper use of various types of chemicals including detergents, disinfectants, finishes, etc., associated with housekeeping duties. Must understand and follow manufacturer's label instructions on application, dilution rates, protective gear, safety precautions and proper storage of all chemicals used. Must understand and institute set routines and procedures established for chemical use. Keep housekeeping closets clean with supplies stored neatly and in an accessible order. Supply inventory must be maintained at a proper level for availability. Must understand and institute set guidelines of equipment to insure the right type of equipment or machine is used for required work.
Security consists of responsibility for keys that give access to assigned areas. Unlocking and locking of building doors at designated (scheduled) times is required.
Valid driver's license and knowledge, skills and abilities to operate university vehicles, as needed.

Work Schedule/Hours
1ST SHIFT WORK HOURS:

8-hour workday schedule with primary hours varying within the following time frame: 4:00 am - 3:00 pm; Monday through Friday. Weekend work and hours other than normal schedule may be required to accomplish assigned duties. Position is subject to call in, call back or stay over on off schedule hours and weekends should emergencies occur. This position will require weekend work for sporting events and other campus events. This position is also expected to work, as needed, in the event of staffing shortages, sporting events and/or other events on campus that require Building Environmental Service needs. Supervisor assignment may be adjusted based on business/operational need.
Designated as MANDATORY, this position is expected to be available for work during University emergencies, closings and adverse weather conditions.

Physical efforts include lifting and moving all types of tables, chairs, chemicals and supplies, furniture, trash and debris including snow and ice, and all cleaning equipment as required. Work can involve climbing ladders. At times, must be able to lift 50-100 pounds. Will need to be able to maneuver and set up heavy athletic equipment (i.e: basketball goals, floor covers, volley ball / badminton equipment).

Hiring Range $17.00
Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
