Job description

Total Safety is looking for a Rescue Supervisor to join their safety conscious team! The Rescue Supervisor may supervise employees (or equivalent) in assigned department. Plans and coordinates activities of staff that provide technical rescue standby for customer projects including confined space rescue and technical rope rescue, as well as first aid and CPR. Coordinates technical rescue through the Incident Command System. Ensures that all employees understand their role in the safety program.

Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assigns personnel to shifts and plans daily schedules. Coordinates the use of rescue personnel and equipment among districts to meet project objectives and achieve maximum efficiency and utilization of company resources.
  • Supervises the rigging and use of all technical rescue equipment.
  • Performs on-going monitoring of equipment resources and ensures accurate inventory and documentation of all rescues related equipment. Identifies equipment needs and makes recommendations to appropriate managers to ensure adequate operational capacity. Establishes maintenance schedules and that preventative maintenance is done on all rescue equipment so that it is in a constant state of readiness. Assists with purchase requests.
  • Provides leadership in achieving health and safety goals. Proactively identifies safety and environmental issues and ensures compliance with Federal, State, Company and client standards. Ensures that issues are identified, addressed, and elevated, if necessary, in a timely manner.
  • Oversees the human resource functions of assigned team, performance appraisals, coaching and counseling team, this does not include hiring and firing. Recommends and provides input for salary and job change actions to upper management. Ensures that all personnel receive safety and process training. Coaches and counsels' team to improve technical skills and interpersonal and problem resolution skills. Works to identify and provide opportunities for team to learn new skills and techniques.
  • Reviews Confined Space Rescue Preplan and a Rescue Safety Analysis (RSA) prepared by Rescue Tech and provides correction and additional training as necessary. Reviews daily ICS (Incident Command System) reports.
  • In case of accident, maintains close contact with rescue team to ensure that all procedures are followed and best outcome for patient. Coordinates technical rescue with EMS and governmental agencies through the Incident Command System.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned. May occasionally be called upon to fill in or help handle excess rescue workload demands.

Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED.
Required Licenses or Specific Training: Must have current driver's license and valid proof of vehicle insurance if driving company vehicle. Must possess good driving record and be insurable by Total Safety U.S., Inc. insurance providers for vehicle insurance while driving company truck.
120 Hour Rescue Technician (2 of 3 Confined Space/High Angle/Trench), 2 Years Field Experience, Confined Space Entrant/Attendant Certification, Healthcare Provider CPR, First Aid with AED. 4 Gas Monitor Operation Training, Incident Command Training (ICS 100,200,300,400,700,800), First Responder/ECA Certification or Higher, Haz-mat Technician, Familiar with OSHA Atmosphere Limitation, and Proven Proficiency in Rescue Operations. Instruction 1 Certification (may be same as 2nd ProBoard Cert.).
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop and bend. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
Combination of office and field / production environments. Some exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. Travel to and from customer sites.
