Weekend Roofer information

What is a weekend roofer?

Weekend roofers are roofing professionals who primarily work on weekends, often to accommodate homeowners' schedules or to complete jobs outside of standard working hours. They perform typical roofing tasks such as installing, repairing, and maintaining roofs on residential or commercial buildings. This role may appeal to part-time workers, those seeking supplemental income, or individuals with other weekday commitments. Weekend roofers must possess the same skills and certifications as full-time roofers and adhere to all safety standards.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend roofer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Roofer, you need solid physical stamina, basic carpentry skills, and familiarity with roofing materials and safety practices, often backed by a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of roofing tools, ladders, nail guns, and the use of safety harnesses is typically required. Attention to detail, teamwork, and reliability are crucial soft skills for ensuring quality work and maintaining job site safety. These abilities are essential for delivering durable roofing results efficiently while minimizing risks in a physically demanding environment.

What are some common challenges a weekend roofer might face, and how can they be addressed?

Weekend Roofers often work with tight deadlines, as projects need to be completed within a short timeframe. Weather conditions can also be unpredictable, impacting both safety and productivity. To address these challenges, effective planning and clear communication with clients and team members are essential. Additionally, staying updated on safety protocols and using appropriate protective equipment helps ensure safe and efficient work.

Weekend roofers tend to earn higher wages in regions with higher living costs and strong construction demand, such as urban areas or regions experiencing growth. Factors like experience, certifications, and the complexity of roofing projects also influence earning potential, regardless of location.

Roofing Service Technician -- Repairs & Maintenance

Fortress Roofing & Exteriors

Memphis, TN โ€ข On-site

$22 - $30/hr

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, PTO

Re-posted 26 days ago

Job description

Steady, year-round work. No feast-or-famine storm chasing.

Most roofing tech jobs dry up when the weather's calm. Not this one.

Fortress Roofing & Exteriors partners with one of the largest single-family rental portfolios in the Mid-South — roughly 2,800 homes across Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi. That partnership means a constant flow of repair and maintenance work, all year long. You'll always have roofs to fix and a steady paycheck behind it.

We're looking for a hard-working technician who takes pride in clean, lasting repairs and wants to grow with a company that's scaling.

What you'll do

+ Diagnose and repair residential roofs — leaks, shingle and flashing repairs, and related exterior work

+ Track down the real source of a leak, not just the symptom

+ Complete repairs to Fortress quality standards

+ Document each job with photos and notes in our CRM/app

+ Work safely at heights, every time

+ Represent Fortress professionally at every property

What you bring

+ Hands-on roofing repair experience (2+ years preferred)

+ Working knowledge of shingle and flat-roof systems

+ The ability to diagnose a wide variety of repairs independently

+ Comfort and safety working at heights

+ A valid driver's license and clean-ish driving record

+ A strong work ethic and pride in doing it right the first time

Compensation & benefits

+ Competitive hourly pay based on experience, plus performance bonus potential

+ Company truck, fuel, and tools provided

+ Health, dental, and vision insurance

+ 401(k) with company match

+ Paid time off

+ Steady, year-round hours — not seasonal

+ Room to grow as we scale

If you're a skilled, dependable roofer who wants steady work and a company that's going somewhere, let's talk.
