Job description

River Steward
Brookfield Renewable US is a leader in renewable power solutions with a hydropower dam facility located on the Oswego River in Oswego, NY.
Brookfield is committed to ensuring public safety for all who recreate on or near the Varick Hydropower Dam facility. Brookfield is hiring 3 River Stewards to effectively communicate with the public to ensure the safety of those fishing and enjoying the river.
This is a seasonal position ending November 28th. Training and orientation will be provided.
Qualifications:
  • Well-organized and enthusiastic about working with the public;
  • Able to effectively communicate in person;
  • Capable of performing duties independently as directed by a supervisor;
  • Eager to work outdoors in all weather conditions;
  • Have strong attention to detail.
  • Minimally be able to walk on a variety of surfaces (inclines and unsteady terrain) and stand for extended periods of time in all types of weather conditions.
  • Be comfortable speaking with the general public and enforcing public safety regulations associated with the Oswego River at the Varick Dam.
  • General angling knowledge is preferred but not a requirement.

Additional Skill & Qualifications:
  • Live within a reasonable commuting distance to the Oswego River Varick Hydropower Dam facility.
  • Background or desire working in the outdoors.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather (hot and inclement).
  • Possess the ability to learn specific rules and regulations as related to public safety on the Oswego River.
  • Ability to commit to a (5) month contract.
  • Ability to work days, weekends, & Holidays.
  • Ability to remain calm under stressful situations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in all types of situations while maintaining composure.

Pay: $20.00/hr.
