Overview

Welder II is a fully trained welder capable of performing standard production welding tasks with moderate supervision. This role has greater familiarity with welding multiple materials and reading engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform MIG, Stick, and basic TIG welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and basic welding symbols.
  • Fabricate parts and assemblies following established tolerances and specifications.
  • Prepare metal using grinders, torches, and saws.
  • Inspect welds for appearance and structural integrity.
  • Perform basic weld repairs as needed.
  • Adhere to company safety practices and maintain proper PPE use.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2–4 years of welding and fabrication experience
  • Proficient in MIG and Stick welding; basic TIG experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Strong Safety Awareness 
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform physical labor.

Preferred:

  • Formal welding training or certification from a technical school or trade program.
  • AWS or other welding certifications (or ability to pass weld tests on-site).
  • Experience working in water control equipment or heavy steel fabrication.
  • Experience with rigging and or crane operation desired. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Regular exposure to welding fumes, sparks, and hot materials.
  • Required to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Work is performed indoors in a shop environment; it may involve occasional outdoor tasks.
  • You must wear PPE including a welding helmet, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection.
