Job description

WELDER
Welder wanted to assemble and weld metal parts used in an industrial manufacturing environment. At times may fabricate parts or specialty bins and components, primarily in stainless steel. Quality control is critical as the Welder will inspect raw materials and finished products for safety compliance and Company standards and specifications. The Welder must be fully aware of, trained in, and adhere to all safety programs, policies, and procedures, and pass any required proficiency tests.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Clean, weld, and inspect metal parts and equipment utilizing primarily TIG welding techniques.
  • Visually inspect existing welds; perform strength tests as needed. Identify preventative maintenance items and be proactive in seeking areas of potential concern.
  • Inspect all hand tools, (such as cutting wheels or grinders) and verify all correct and appropriate guarding is in place prior to use.
  • May assist in identifying corrective and preventative maintenance on processing and packaging equipment.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment, including after the repair or replacement of parts.
  • Assist production and/or packaging departments with work order requests and routine or non-routine fabrication as necessary.
  • Keep areas of responsibility clean, free of debris, and well maintained.
  • Notify Maintenance Manager of any problems with parts, machinery and equipment requiring special orders, or urgent and safety-threatening situations.
  • Complete other tasks and responsibilities deemed necessary and as assigned by direct supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Read, understand, and follow schematics, technical manuals, or specification sheets as necessary.
  • Knowledgeable about potato processing and packaging equipment preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced math skills; must be able to calculate angles, dimensions, and fractions or percent amounts.
  • Must be able to closely follow operational instructions.
  • Must be able to certify in required safety areas such as: Hot work, Lock Out /Tag Out, Confined Space, Fall Protection .
  • Good hand / eye coordination, attention to detail, and physical stamina.
  • Must provide own hand tools and lockable toolbox.

Education:
Education must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities. High school diploma/equivalent or higher education preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand, bend, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis without assistance, and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Bending, stretching, lifting, reaching, climbing, crawling and manual dexterity required on a regular basis.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to extreme hot or cold, steam, dust, wet / humid conditions, low lit areas, loud noises, and exposure to dust or chemicals.
