Job description

Skillforce is seeking experienced Journeyman Concrete Carpenters for contract-to-hire opportunities in the Iowa City, IA and Cedar Rapids, IA. areas. This role offers the chance to work on a variety of commercial projects with the potential to transition into a long-term, permanent position. The anticipated schedule for this role is 40+hours a week, and pay is up to $32/hr. depending upon experience.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Construct, assemble, and dismantle wood and metal forms for concrete pours.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine formwork layout.
  • Install rebar, mesh, and other reinforcement materials as required.
  • Pour, level, and finish concrete using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ensure formwork is properly aligned, braced, and secured to meet structural requirements.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools including saws, drills, and concrete vibrators.
  • Collaborate with other trades and team members to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety protocols.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial concrete carpentry.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of concrete properties and curing processes.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites.
