Job Description

This position will design, implement, and support artificial intelligence (AI)/machine learning (ML) systems as the subject matter expert for Wabash Valley Power Alliance. This position will work with all business units, member cooperatives, and business partners to automate and optimize workflows and processes while limiting business risks. Success requires a desire to work with a broad range of technologies, systems, and databases to benefit Wabash Valley Power and our Member Cooperatives.  This position will also identify and develop AI/ML education for Wabash Valley Power and member cooperative staff. 

This role is hybrid in nature, with a combination of on-site workdays and remote workdays. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Present artificial intelligence and data finding to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Design, implement, administer, monitor, and maintain artificial intelligence/machine learning systems
  • Design, analyze, and maintain system algorithms including data models, natural language models, and machine learning models
  • Train and evaluate artificial intelligence system to ensure systems remain accurate with limited hallucinations
  • Perform complex analysis on large data sets and communicate meaningful intelligence to Technical Service Leadership
  • Research, prototype, and recommend new technology platforms or systems to improve business workflows and reduce risks
  • Maintain a constant level of expertise in all artificial intelligence technologies including but not limited to generative AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and deep learning
  • Develop and maintain computer code need for artificial intelligence system and business automation systems
  • Develop and implement AI models for tasks such as:
    • Predictive maintenance: Analyze sensor data to predict equipment failures and optimize maintenance scheduling
    • Load forecasting: Improve the accuracy of electricity demand forecasts to ensure reliable and cost-effective power generation
  • Develop and present reports on systems and business workflows
  • Develop and foster relationships with universities AI/ML programs
  • Education end-users on AI/ML tools and how they can be used within the organization and member cooperatives
  • Perform additional activities needed to demonstrate regulatory compliance with NERC CIP security standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative science, engineering, or other STEM field
  • Three to five years prior artificial intelligence/machine learning or data analysis experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Excellent technology proficiency with a strong commitment to continuous learning
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

Preferred Experience: 

  • Any system, network, or cybersecurity related experience or certifications are a plus
  • Experience working with data rich problems in research or professional projects is a plus
  • Graduate degree in data science, computational science, or artificial intelligence is a plus
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as R and Python
