Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor facility operations and security during assigned shifts, ensuring safety and compliance with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the building, serving as the first point of contact for member and guest concerns.
  • Build positive relationships with YMCA members, participants, staff, and volunteers to promote a friendly, community-centered environment.
  • Provide support to YMCA staff and programs as needed.
  • Serve as the primary responder to facility incidents, accidents, and security issues; complete and submit incident reports.
  • Respond appropriately to fire alarms and emergency situations.
  • Report maintenance, safety, or repair issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist with facility opening and closing procedures as assigned.
  • Follow all YMCA policies, including Youth Protection policies, ensuring proper monitoring, screening, and reporting at all times.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings; respond promptly to communications.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Membership Director or senior staff.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have good communication and relationship-building skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and professionalism in all situations.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of youth sports and recreation is preferred.
  • Must love working with kids and be passionate about making a positive impact in the community.
  • Must be a resident of Auburn or Cayuga County.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with members and staff.
  • Must be able to walk throughout the building and grounds for the duration of the shift.
  • Must be able to operate handheld electronic devices and read settings on fitness equipment.
  • Must have visual acuity sufficient to observe activity up to 80 feet away.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment:
