Job description

Job Summary The City of St. Peters is seeking a motivated and dependable Recreation Operations Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting a variety of recreation operations and community programs. This position will assist with special events, marketing, food service, sponsorship activities, and administrative projects while gaining valuable experience in municipal recreation operations. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, comfortable working with the public, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Spring 2027 Internship: This internship is a semester-based opportunity beginning in January 2027 and is designed for students seeking hands-on experience in community recreation, special events, marketing, and administrative operations.

Normal Shift: 28 to 40 hours per week. Schedule varies and may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, setup, execution, and evaluation of special events and recreation programs.
  • Gather photos, videos, and written content to support marketing and promotional efforts.
  • Assist with food service operations, preparation tasks, organization, and departmental errands.
  • Provide administrative support, including filing, data entry, inventory tracking, and document preparation.
  • Assist with customer and resident inquiries, concerns, and requests in a professional manner.
  • Support departmental projects and activities as assigned.
  • Perform all work in compliance with established City safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's license valid in the state of Missouri.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to physically participate in recreation programs and activities.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or pursuing a degree in Recreation, Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Interest in community recreation, special events, marketing, and administrative operations, with a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
