Nature of Work THE CITY OF HUNTSVILLE'S SANITATION DEPARTMENT WANTS YOU. The City of Huntsville's Sanitation department is seeking qualified applicants to fill our Equipment Operator III position(s). Exciting Career Opportunities for Smart and Talented People.

Come join our growing Sanitation Team. Apply today. About our Department: The Sanitation Division is charged with the responsibility of providing garbage collection to residential and commercial solid waste customers.

It is also responsible for the collection of trash and yard waste as well as bulky waste for Huntsville's residential solid waste customers. Equipment Operator III Position Overview: Operates a knuckle boom loader for collecting large amounts of solid waste; collects limbs, logs, wood, building and other materials; transports debris to landfill; loads other vehicles; may serve as a lead worker. Operates an automated refuse collection truck utilizing an automated collection arm and a standardized cart system.

Operates a rear loader with a two-man crew in the collection of trash. Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements: High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency is desired and considerable experience in the operation of heavy equipment and heavy trucks, knuckle booms, automated refuse trucks and rear loaders; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
