To thrive as a Weekend Registered Dental Assistant, you need a solid understanding of dental procedures, infection control, and dental terminology, typically validated by completion of an accredited dental assisting program and state RDA certification. Familiarity with dental software, radiography equipment, and sterilization systems is commonly required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and reliability are crucial for providing patient comfort and supporting the dental team during weekend shifts. These skills and qualifications ensure efficient, safe, and patient-centered care, especially in a fast-paced or limited-staff weekend environment.

What are some common challenges faced by a Weekend Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), and how can they be managed?

Weekend RDAs often face the challenge of managing a high volume of emergency or last-minute patient appointments, as many patients seek dental care outside of regular weekday hours. This can require quick adaptability, effective communication with both patients and the dental team, and strong organizational skills to maintain smooth workflow. Collaborating closely with dentists and other staff is essential to ensure quality patient care, despite the fast-paced environment. Staying prepared by reviewing patient records ahead of time and maintaining an organized workspace can help RDAs navigate these challenges successfully.

What are Weekend RDAs?

Weekend RDAs are Registered Dental Assistants who primarily work on weekends to assist dentists during dental procedures. Their duties typically include preparing patients for treatments, sterilizing instruments, assisting during procedures, taking dental x-rays, and providing post-treatment care instructions. Weekend RDAs help dental offices extend their hours and offer flexibility to patients who may not be able to visit during the week. This role requires completion of a dental assisting program and state certification or registration. Working weekends can be ideal for those seeking part-time hours or supplementing their income.

Job description

What if your dental job could actually help someone heal?

Imagine being part of a team where a patient walks in struggling with chronic fatigue, inflammation, or unexplained pain — and your work is part of what helps turn that around.

At TLC Dental Wellness, we connect the dots between the mouth and the rest of the body. We use advanced tools like detection of hidden infection in jaw bone,, DNA testing for inflammatory markers, SMART certified mercury removal, and ozone therapy — getting to the root cause, not just the symptom.
You won't just be handing instruments. You'll be part of someone's healing journey.
The cool stuff you'll actually work with:
  • Cavitation detection — hidden jaw infections that affect the whole body.
  • DNA salivary testing for inflammatory and bacterial markers.
  • SMART certified safe mercury removal.
  • Ozone therapy and biocompatible, non-toxic materials.
Here's what we need from you: You must be a licensed RDA with strong, proven clinical skills in general dentistry — this is NOT an entry-level position. If you can hold your own chairside, we will take it from there and train you in everything wellness dentistry has to offer. Dr. Mathew personally mentors every team member, so you'll never feel thrown into the deep end on the new stuff.

What we look for beyond the clinical:
Passion and a positive attitude are non-negotiable here. Our patients are on real healing journeys and the energy you bring into that room matters. We also cross-train across roles, because we show up for each other. That's just how we operate.

What we offer:
  • Competitive pay + paid holidays, sick days & vacation.
  • No late nights or weekends.
  • Free dental care for you and your family.
  • Paid continuing education.
  • A tight-knit team of 6 who genuinely have your back.
