Weekend Rda information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Registered Dental Assistant, you need a solid understanding of dental procedures, infection control, and dental terminology, typically validated by completion of an accredited dental assisting program and state RDA certification. Familiarity with dental software, radiography equipment, and sterilization systems is commonly required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and reliability are crucial for providing patient comfort and supporting the dental team during weekend shifts. These skills and qualifications ensure efficient, safe, and patient-centered care, especially in a fast-paced or limited-staff weekend environment.

What are some common challenges faced by a Weekend Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), and how can they be managed?

Weekend RDAs often face the challenge of managing a high volume of emergency or last-minute patient appointments, as many patients seek dental care outside of regular weekday hours. This can require quick adaptability, effective communication with both patients and the dental team, and strong organizational skills to maintain smooth workflow. Collaborating closely with dentists and other staff is essential to ensure quality patient care, despite the fast-paced environment. Staying prepared by reviewing patient records ahead of time and maintaining an organized workspace can help RDAs navigate these challenges successfully.

What are Weekend RDAs?

Weekend RDAs are Registered Dental Assistants who primarily work on weekends to assist dentists during dental procedures. Their duties typically include preparing patients for treatments, sterilizing instruments, assisting during procedures, taking dental x-rays, and providing post-treatment care instructions. Weekend RDAs help dental offices extend their hours and offer flexibility to patients who may not be able to visit during the week. This role requires completion of a dental assisting program and state certification or registration. Working weekends can be ideal for those seeking part-time hours or supplementing their income.

Job Description

Dental Assistant – Full Time
Dothan Smiles |Dothan, AL

Bring your skills, your spark, and your scrubs—we’ve got the kind of team you’ll look forward to showing up for.

What if your next Dental Assistant role felt more like joining a family, growing your career, and making a real difference in patients’ lives—all in one place?

We’re seeking a friendly, motivated Dental Assistant to join our trusted team—celebrated by patients for our exceptional care and consistently glowing reviews on Google. Our office celebrates wins with high-fives, supports one another like family, and creates an environment where both patients and teammates feel genuinely cared for. Our office stands out for its fun-loving energy, friendships that extend beyond the workday, and a shared purpose of making a difference—especially through our care with special needs patients and partnerships with local organizations. If you're someone who thrives on teamwork, loves a good laugh, and treats patients with the compassion they deserve, we think you’ll feel right at home here and we’d love to welcome you aboard.

Pay: Commensurate with experience and skills

Benefits:

We offer all the good stuff—competitive pay (with a real plan to grow it), premium insurance options, and up to four weeks of PTO to actually use that beach towel or hiking gear. Plus, continuing education so you can add those fancy letters like EFDA to your name without living on ramen.

  • Clear path to maximize your earnings
No crystal ball needed—your growth here is mapped out, supported, and celebrated at every step.
  • Training and certifications from day one
Forget “sink or swim.” We believe in real training that builds real confidence—and helps you crush it from the start.
  • Continuing education opportunities
Because staying sharp is part of the plan—and let's be honest, learning new skills makes you even more unstoppable.
  • Flex time and work-life balance
You’ll work hard, live well, and still make it to that yoga class or weekend getaway.
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance, plus so much more!
Protect your health, your teeth, your vision—and yes, even your sanity—with benefits built for real life.
  • Paid Time Off (start with 2 weeks per year and accrue up to 3 weeks per year based on tenure) + 6 Paid Holidays
Because even superheroes need a day off to recharge, explore, or binge-watch guilt-free.
  • 401(k) Program
Smart moves now = easy breezy future. Let’s make sure you’re winning at every stage.
  • Fun, team-first culture
Support isn’t just lip service here—it’s baked into the way we work, celebrate, and show up for each other daily.

What You’ll Do:

Sure, you’ll be charting, setting up operatories, and perfecting your ‘dental chair ninja’ moves—but more importantly, we need someone who knows how to show up with heart, help wherever needed, and make patients feel like they’re in the best hands possible.

  • Provide empathetic chair-side support to our Dentist and Hygienists, including charting and patient education
You’ll be the calm in the chaos, the friendly face patients trust, and the right hand our providers can’t live without.
  • Ensure smooth patient flow and maintain a welcoming, efficient operatory
Think of yourself as the behind-the-scenes magic maker—keeping the schedule on time and the vibes on point.
  • Take and process X-rays
You'll capture the perfect shots (no awkward selfies here) to help our team diagnose and deliver top-notch care.
  • Maintain accurate records and treatment plans per Dentist’s instructions
You’re part detective, part scribe—making sure every chart tells the real story and every treatment plan is spot-on.
  • Keep operatories and equipment clean and sterilized
Because sparkling rooms and squeaky-clean tools aren’t just nice—they’re the secret sauce of top-tier care.
  • Track and prepare lab cases in advance of daily schedules
You’ll be two steps ahead—so crowns, appliances, and cases are ready to shine exactly when we need them.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for that rare combo: someone with hustle, heart, and a hunger to grow. You’ve got your Dental Assistant certification (or you're working on it), X-ray know-how, and maybe a coronal polish in your back pocket—but what really sets you apart? You care. About people. About patients. About doing great work with great teammates. You jump in without being asked, keep the vibes positive, and you’re always leveling up, both professionally and personally.

  • Compassionate, strong attention to detail, warm demeanor, and a love for working with others
  • A team player who’s ready to jump in, help, and make patients feel at ease
  • Dental Assisting Certification (specify state) from an accredited school
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • X-ray Certification (or ability to obtain promptly)
  • Coronal polishing and Nitrous Oxide certification preferred

You bring the passion, drive, and heart—we’ll bring the growth, purpose, and people who have your back.
