Job description

The Raft Guide is responsible for delivery of a high quality, safe, fun, and entertaining rafting experience for 6-7 guests at a time in varying environmental conditions as dictated by the unique RIVERSPORT Rapid's facility. Build relationships with our guests to establish a repeat customer base. Interact with guides and guests 95% of the workday. The position will report to the RIVERSPORT Rapid's Raft Operation Manager. This is a seasonal position.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities: Essential functions may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by this position.
• Guide rafting guests safely down the whitewater channels in a friendly, engaging, professional, and an entertaining way. Assist in the development of the rafting program and its atmosphere as dictated by the unique RIVERSPORT Rapid's facility.
• Develop personal raft guiding skills in order to consistently deliver a quality, entertaining, and professional experience to all guests.
• Be able to execute all safety and operational processes involved in the rafting department, including raft guiding and river guarding along the bank.
• Ensure thorough communication with other staff members, management, and entire RIVERSPORT Rapid's team while on site.
• Provide accurate and consistent information to guests about facilities, programs, entertainment options, and costs.
• Handle various guest concerns, compliments, and suggestions in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 16 years of age
• No prior commercial whitewater rafting experience is required if applicant plans to complete RIVERSPORT Rapid's guide school.
• Comfortable with public speaking and constant guest interaction.
• Level of physical fitness and swimming capabilities must be appropriately developed to meet safety-related specific duties.
• Certifications: Current CPR, AED, and First Aid. (classes offered through RIVERSPORT Rapids)
• Energetic, communicates clearly and professionally with RIVERSPORT Rapid's, river guides and guests and enjoys working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Physical requirements: Be able to instruct and/or guide whitewater trips and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work flexible schedule to include days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Demonstrate ability to provide a high standard of professionalism and strong customer service skills
Physical Requirements:
• Able to perform work duties outside in varying weather conditions prevalent at the time.
• Very comfortable in and around moving water
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting
