Job description

KID Museum is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Manager of Research and Evaluation to support its research and evaluation efforts. The Senior Manager of Research and Evaluation will manage all research and evaluation activities at KID Museum, including the development and implementation of research and evaluation plans, the collection and analysis of data, and the dissemination of findings to relevant stakeholders. The role includes overseeing data and evaluation interns. The Senior Manager will report to the Chief Impact Officer and work closely with other members of the team to ensure that KID Museum's programs are effective, innovative, and impactful. This position will play a key role in KID Museum's growth strategy and evolution as a learning laboratory.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the research and evaluation plans for the breadth of KID Museum's student, teacher, and family programs, both in person and virtual.
  • Develop and implement aligned data collection protocols and tools, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, and observation protocols.
  • Implement equity-minded and culturally-sustaining evaluation frameworks, ensuring measurement practices recognize diverse experiences, minimize bias, and reflect our mission.
  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data related to KID Museum's programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and manage key data systems, routine dashboards, and contribute to the development of organizational data standards.
  • Collaborate with program staff to integrate research and evaluation findings into program design, development, and improvement.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop reports and other communications to convey KID Museum's impact internally and externally, and elevate KID's presence as a thought leader in the field.
  • Collaborate with the development team to ensure data-related reporting requirements are met.
  • Present research and evaluation findings to relevant stakeholders, including senior leadership, funders, and program staff.
  • Manage external research and evaluation contracts and relationships as needed.
  • Stay current on research and evaluation best practices and emerging trends in:
    • Learning sciences
    • Maker education
    • Invention education
    • Innovation in STEM/STEAM
    • Creative problem-solving
    • Out of school time learning experiences
    • Longitudinal and multi visit learning experiences


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., learning sciences, education, engineering education, psychology, social sciences).
  • At least 5 years of experience conducting research and evaluation in a relevant field, such as STEM/STEAM education and/or informal learning environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in research design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Experience managing research and evaluation projects from conception to dissemination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex research findings to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization, as well as with research partners and other institutions (academic and non-academic).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of and experience with research and evaluation methods and tools, including quantitative and qualitative methods, survey design, dashboarding, data visualization, and data analysis software
