Job description

QTrade Teas & Botanicals is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to join our Quality team.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment and takes pride in ensuring products meet quality, food safety, customer, and regulatory requirements.

You’ll work both on the production floor and with quality documentation, inspecting and sampling materials, reviewing labels and product specifications, maintaining accurate records, and working closely with Production, Warehouse, R&D, Purchasing, and Account Management.

If you have experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, food safety, food manufacturing, or production and are highly organized and detail-oriented, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

  • Inspect, sample, and evaluate incoming raw materials, packaging, and incoming/outgoing shipments.
  • Verify materials and products meet quality specifications and are free from foreign material or other quality concerns.
  • Perform quality testing using equipment and methods such as moisture analyzers, sieve shakers, visual inspections, density calculations, and sensory/organoleptic evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate inspection results, quality records, work orders, and electronic documentation.
  • Review and verify product labels, case labels, packaging, and artwork for accuracy and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Verify barcodes, lot coding, ingredient statements, net weights, pallet configurations, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and other product documentation.
  • Support product traceability by tracking raw materials, packaging, work orders, and finished goods throughout the production process.
  • Assist with customer complaint investigations, root-cause analysis, non-conformances, and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities.
  • Track quarantined products and maintain organized product samples and quality records.
  • Monitor pest control devices and report quality or food safety concerns.
  • Support internal audits, inspections, and food safety programs.
  • Work closely with Production and Warehouse employees to identify and resolve quality or documentation issues.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 months of related experience or training in quality assurance, food safety, or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with raw material sampling procedures is a plus.
  • Understanding of pest control monitoring and reporting practices is beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to accurately enter and maintain quality and production data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees across multiple departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability and willingness to follow food safety, quality, PPE, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Experience using quality inspection or testing equipment is a plus.

Work Environment

This is an onsite, hands-on position that works in both laboratory/testing areas and an active manufacturing environment.

The position requires regular standing and walking throughout the facility and frequent interaction with Production and Warehouse teams. Employees may be exposed to production equipment, forklift traffic, tea dust and other airborne particles, varying temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels.

PPE, including lab coats, gloves, hairnets, and safety glasses, must be worn as required.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Regularly lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.

  • Work extended hours or occasional weekends when required to support production or quality needs.

Why This Role Matters

Quality is critical to everything we produce. As a QA Technician, you will help ensure that raw materials and finished products meet our standards before they move through production or reach our customers.

This position is a good fit for someone who is observant, organized, accountable, comfortable speaking up when something is not right, and committed to food safety and product quality.
