Job description

The Project Manager normal involvement in a project life cycle generally begins as part of the Sales team on the project. This may involve estimating, solicitation of subcontractor proposals, scope definition, project timeline scheduling, assistance in presentations, review of proposed contracts and terms, and systems design.
The Project Manager coordinates the effort of our Design, Controls, Software, suppliers and selected subcontractors with the customer for a successful project. For larger projects, and as the group grows, the PM's success will depend increasingly on his or her leadership, communications ability and performance, and ability to manage the details of multiple projects.
The technologies used range from high-level automation (robotics, AS/RS, AGV's, high speed sortation, light directed picking, etc.) to conventional products (workstations, rack pick modules, fabricated carts, vertical lifts, etc.) Our goal is to help companies compete in their markets by providing the best material handling system solutions and technology.
Job Functions
  • Work with the assigned team to review proposals, contracts and new orders for accuracy and commercial and technical issues.
  • Get the customer to commit to the design parameters and givens in writing. Fall back position is to document our assumptions as part of our proposal (ensure that they are included in the contract)
  • Estimate and direct internal Toyota Automated Logistics resources necessary to successfully complete the project. Communicate with other Systems Team members current and anticipated needs.
  • Maintain positive cash flow on all projects. Work with accounts and business support specialist to follow-up on past due invoices.
  • Maintain organized file throughout project and work with Coordinator to archive paper files at completion. Responsible for clean-up of electronic file library.
  • Responsible for content, format and timeliness of all project correspondence and submittals including drawings, letters, equipment and controls documentation, spare parts lists, purchase orders.
  • Take ownership of Toyota Automated Logistics' project team and our suppliers. The PM represents all of Toyota Automated Logistics and is the main point of the contact for the customer.
  • Manage the project schedule. Use electronic Gantt chart for installed projects. Communicate when other project parties (e.g. customer) delay. Maintain the baseline schedule for comparison.
  • Support the Site Supervisors when they need help in the field.

Travel Requirements
  • Up to 50% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Toyota Automated Logistics)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Previous project management experience
  • Advanced in MS Office software suite (Excel, Word, Visio etc).
  • MS Project experience. Material Handling, Robotics, Manufacturing or Packaging background a plus.
  • An understanding of the Engineering, Manufacturing and Material Handling industries
  • Energetic ambitious and hard working
  • Strong interpersonal skills with project management experience
  • Strong demonstrated sense of customer service
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
