Assistant Project Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Location: Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (occasional local travel required)

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join our growing team. This full-time position offers long-term career growth and professional development opportunities within the construction industry.

The Assistant Project Manager will support Project Managers throughout the entire project lifecycle, including estimating, project startup, scheduling, procurement, cost control, quality assurance, contract administration, documentation management, and project closeout. Projects typically range from $200,000 to $3,000,000 and involve federal government construction contracts that must meet strict contractual and technical requirements.

This role is ideal for candidates who are highly organized, proactive, and interested in developing a career in construction project management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Administration & Coordination

  • Support Project Managers during the bidding, award, planning, execution, and closeout phases of construction projects.
  • Assist with design-build and bid-build construction contracts.
  • Participate in project startup activities and administrative planning.
  • Coordinate project schedules, meetings, and communication among stakeholders.
  • Attend project meetings and provide status updates, meeting agendas, minutes, rosters, and action items.

Submittals & Contract Documentation

  • Prepare and manage pre-construction submittals, including:
  • Submittal registers
  • Transmittal documents
  • Personnel lists
  • Product data and catalog cuts
  • Sample materials
  • Government approval packages
  • Track submittals and approvals from contracting officers, architects, engineers, and government project managers.
  • Assist with Requests for Information (RFIs) and contract-related correspondence.

Research & Procurement Support

Document Control & Organization

Field & Construction Support

  • Assist construction managers and superintendents with project documentation and coordination.

Project Closeout

  • Collect and organize closeout documentation, including:
  • Warranties
  • Testing reports
  • Waste disposal records
  • Operation and maintenance manuals
  • As-built drawings
  • Prepare professional closeout packages for clients, project managers, and contracting officials.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in:
  • Construction Management
  • Engineering
  • Project Management
  • Related field of study
  • Strong computer skills, including:
