THE OPPORTUNITY
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager with the administrative and management work that keeps projects on time and on budget, while developing the skills to eventually run projects independently. In this role, you will own key pieces of the project lifecycle, including submittals, RFIs, change documentation, pay applications, and closeout support.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Project Support
  • Perform estimating functions during preconstruction and construction as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Assist in creating and updating the project schedule.
  • Read, understand, and help manage owner contracts, budgets, schedules, plans, and specifications in Procore.
  • Review and comprehend submittals and shop drawings.

Documentation & Coordination
  • Process and track RFIs in Procore and distribute responses to the appropriate parties.
  • Prepare, distribute, and track contracts, purchase orders, meeting minutes, notices, field work directives, and related project documentation.
  • Verify insurance and license compliance with Accounting when needed.
  • Attend project meetings as required and help maintain timely communication with project stakeholders.
  • Cost-code invoices and submit them in accordance with Accounting procedures.

Change Management & Closeout
  • Assist the Project Manager with managing PCOs, CORs, change orders, CCAs, ACAs, direct purchases, bonds, submittals, RFIs, and warranties.
  • Support monthly owner pay applications and subcontractor payment requests when needed.
  • Assist with creating the project punch list.
  • Help monitor project safety, quality standards, and client satisfaction through HBC core values.
  • Support timely owner closeout and financial closeout.

WHAT YOU BRING
Experience & Education
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience required; 5+ years preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in construction management, engineering, or a related field.

Certifications & Licenses
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification required; OSHA 30-Hour preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Florida driver's license required.

Skills & Quallifications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Procore.
  • Strong organization, communication, and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage project details, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and support project teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Drive to grow into a Project Manager role.

Physical Requirements
This role is split between active construction sites and an office environment. On site, team members may be exposed to weather, heat, noise, dust, fumes, machinery, and other jobsite conditions. The position requires the ability to stand, walk, navigate uneven terrain, climb ladders or scaffolding, work at a desk or computer for extended periods, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
