POSITION SUMMARY Under the direction of the Supervisor, Education & Visitor Engagement, the Events Programmer is responsible for coordinating programs, related marketing, and special events for the Simcoe County Museum. The Events Programmer performs duties in accordance with established procedures and policies of the County of Simcoe and applicable legislation. *Anticipated length of contract - 1 year* DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (not listed in order of priority) 1.

Underthe direction of the Supervisor, Education & Visitor Engagement, coordinate Museum special events and activities including the creation of programming, the coordination of logistics related to programming, overseeing the implementation of Museum events and liaising with Museum volunteers and partner groups. 2. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Education & Visitor Engagement, liaise with and provide information to the media relating to events programming within the Museum.

This includes writing and sending press releases, meeting with and being interviewed by members of the media, and creating and disbursing advertising using appropriate channels for Museum events. 3. Assist the Supervisor, Education &Visitor Engagement with educational programming for the Museum as required.

4. Represent the Simcoe County Museum and travel to various local area events as required. 5.

Represent the Simcoe County Museum at different meetings (including, but not limited to) Barrie Arts Council, Friends of the Simcoe County Museum as required. 6. Represent museum at different local community events to conduct programming.

7. Wear appropriate and approved historical costumes complimentary to specific programs. 8.

Maintain inventory of supplies and complete requisitions as required. 9. Utilize and reconcile County purchasing card and create/receive purchase orders using approved systems.

10. Perform special projects and other duties as required, including redeployment in emergency situations. 11.

Participate on Committees as required. 12. Comply with provincial and County occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.

13. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. This job may be considered for educational equivalency in accordance with County Policy. Completion of an O.M.A. Certificate program would be considered an asset

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with internal and external contacts. Highly motivated with excellent customer and interpersonal skills and capable of working well under pressure. Excellent organizational and time management skills with an ability to learn, adapt and be flexible in a fast paced, multi-functional environment where priorities change regularly.

Excellent computer skills including working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and database applications in a Windows environment. Ability to act independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Valid G class drivers license and access to reliable vehicle. Some travel is required using personal vehicle. Must be available to work statutory holidays, evenings and weekends as required.

EXPERIENCE Two (2) years related experience. Supervisory experience would be considered and asset. Knowledge of Museum operations including educational, cultural and community elements.

Experience working with the public. EFFORT Visual and mental effort required when creating advertising material, taking minutes, etc. Physical effort required when assisting with moving exhibits, hanging pictures, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS With numerous interruptions in a busy environment, and In an environment which may expose you to dust, fumes and/or gases related to the restoration process from time to time.
