Job description

Application deadline: Sep 6, 2026
Amazon created one of the most sophisticated supply chains in the world. From the introduction of Amazon Prime to the use of advanced technology for package delivery, Amazon consistently drives change from the front of the pack.
As a Sub Same Day (SSD) Operations Engineer, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects focused on site configurations, virtual readiness, and end-to-end testing for new facility launches, retrofits, and expansions. You are a customer-obsessed leader who will play an integral part in ensuring that all system configurations and physical installations are validated and ready for go-live across the SSD network. Strong technical aptitude, stakeholder management, and the ability to drive results independently in ambiguous environments will be essential.
Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end testing and validation of site configurations across new launches and retrofits, ensuring all virtual and physical systems are ready for operations prior to go-live.
- Partner with internal teams (Launch, IT, Startup, Engineering, Operations) and external vendors to set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules to meet deadlines.
- Proactively assess configuration readiness, identify gaps or risks in advance of deployment timelines, and drive solutions to mitigate impact.
- Lead and coordinate execution efforts to validate that systems, equipment, and automated processes function per established standards and guidelines.
- Monitor and report on testing progress including significant milestones and conditions which would affect site launch cost or schedule.
- Solve ambiguous problems across multiple configurations and systems; develop scalable processes and mechanisms that improve readiness and reduce defects.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional stakeholders across multiple organizations to ensure alignment and timely handover.
- Identify and lead process improvement initiatives that optimize the team's efficiency, improve site readiness visibility, and raise the quality bar for launches.
- Travel up to 80% domestically; travel intensity can be variable and consist of up to three weeks in a row, including weekends.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and field execution through launch readiness and go-live phases
- Experience building launch readiness frameworks, standard work, playbooks, and scalable deployment mechanisms across multiple concurrent sites
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project) at an advanced level
- 3+ years of professional experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques
- Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience with retrofits, launches, or automation deployments
- Experience developing, deploying and managing AI products at scale
