FTI is searching for an Electrical Engineer to support the Product Engineering team in Menasha, WI. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing and/or specifying electrical and electro-mechanical parts and assemblies that will be used within products that are used within the renewable energy, microgrid, EV charging, crypto mining, and data center markets.

The Electrical Engineer will support the Design Engineering team in the design and qualification of electrical components, sub-systems, multi-level assemblies, and system architecture of various products that are used within the energy industry. This position will also work with other disciplines within the organization to understand customer and market requirements, design products to be easy to both manufacture and assemble, support products as they go through the Product Development Process, and support service and aftermarket needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Internship or 6 months of work experience
  • Working knowledge in 2D/3D CAD design software (Inventor, CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and PLC controllers
  • Experience in Bill of Material creation and Change Notice processes

PREFERRED

  • 2 years of product design experience
  • Experience in electrical components or equipment within the energy industry
  • Experience in the design and development of electrical components preferred
  • PLC programming experience preferred

Travel: 10-25%

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews technical drawings and electrical specifications to ensure proper application of products within electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Supports the design of electrical components and sub-systems for power/low voltage products including component selection, wire harness creation, assembly design and installation.
  • Performs detailed design calculations to ensure design compliance with project requirements.
  • Studies and understands related government and industry standards that govern the products being developed.
  • Produce relevant documentation needed to meet project goals, electrical schematics, electrical component prints, electrical assemblies, and compliance documents.
  • Interacts with the Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Industrial Engineering staff on a regular basis.
  • Participate and present technical information during design meetings or reviews.
  • Supports the creation of 2D prints and 3D models for piece parts components.
  • Supports the creation of complex 3D layouts of top-level and sub-level assemblies.
  • Help develop product Bill of Material structures to allow for modularity and configurability of products.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials and prepare Change Notices to release components and assemblies.
  • Support costing activities to ensure pricing targets are achieved at the project level.
  • Supports the creation of technical manuals for operation and maintenance of related products.
  • Self-checks own work to ensure accuracy to established drawing and design specifications and standards.
  • Provide technical assistance for prototype and pilot builds along with production support as needed.
  • Works with suppliers to integrate various components into higher level system designs.
  • Supports service, aftermarket, and installation teams as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
