Summary/Objective

The OR Supervisor / RN Charge Nurse is responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and evaluating unit activities for the provision of quality patient care while following state and federal regulations, the company's policies and protocols, and the recognized standard of care.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise RNs and additional clinical staff 

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides comprehensive nursing care to meet the total needs of the patient
  • Assess and monitor physical conditions of the patient
  • Report to physician on changes in patient's condition
  • Develop nursing care plan to meet identified needs of the patient
  • Assess and implement discharge from Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Aid physicians during treatment and examination of patients
  • Return patient calls to assist with refills, charges, concerns, etc.
  • Coordinate daily administrative duties, including schedules, nursing assignments and patient care
  • Mentor and train new staff and provide support and guidance to staff members
  • Serve as liaison with doctors and administrators and communicates any protocol changes to staff
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations
  • Record and maintain accurate reports
  • Identify issues or emergencies and respond in an efficient manner
  • Accurately record patient's condition, nursing actions and physician directions in EMR, and maintain accurate and concise medical records
  • Verify dates on all drugs
  • Conduct narcotics count each day
  • Maintain regular updates and service for equipment
  • Order supplies and Monitor equipment for maintenance and repairs
  • Provide support for AAAASF
  • Delegate activities as needed to meet the needs of the facility

Qualifications 

  • At least 2 years of clinical experience working as an OR Supervisor or Charge Nurse, preferably in an ASC
  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program
  • Experience working with an EMR system
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills - Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.

License and Certifications

  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current state nursing license (RN)
