JOB LOCATION: Raleigh, NC
AVAILABLE POSITIONS: 3
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Operate mobile cranes, excavators, and backhoes for bridge construction. Operator will be responsible for minor repairs and equipment maintenance in addition to other duties. Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Crane Operator
1.) Operate cranes and other heavy equipment in an efficient manner while maintaining a high standard of safety.
2.) Must be able to safely and properly rig loads for each piece of equipment operated.
3.) Perform the upkeep and general maintenance of the equipment.
4.) Perform duties with an awareness to avoid overloading, obstruction of crane movement, working with overhead and underground utilities, etc.
5.) Perform daily inspection of equipment while maintaining a clean work area. Conduct documented pre-shift and monthly inspections of equipment for safety and mechanical defects.
6.) Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year.
7.) Understand and follow hand signals or audio instructions from fellow employees.
8.) Report any concerns or deficiencies to supervisors.
9.) Learn and follow safety regulations.
10.) Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
11.) Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures.
12.) Perform additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.
13.) Must have regular and predictable attendance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred but not required).

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years crane operator experience required for Crawler and Rough Terrain Cranes.

Special Qualifications:
NCCCO Certified Lattice Boom Crawler and NCCCO Certified Telescopic Boom Swing Cab. Large hydraulic certification required. Pile driving experience preferred.
Heavy physical demands:
Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material or equipment (over 80 pounds). If a position specific Physical Demands sheet is attached, it will describe in more detail the physical demands that are required.
Physical activity:
Position requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required of the position. Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.
