Houston, TX | Level II Trauma Center
A leading healthcare organization in Houston is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Clinical Specialist to join their pharmacy team within a high-acuity Level II Trauma Center. This role is ideal for a clinically driven PharmD professional with a passion for advancing patient outcomes and pharmacy practice.
Position Overview
As a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist, you'll provide advanced pharmaceutical care across various hospital service areas, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-conscious medication use. This is a dynamic opportunity to influence care at the bedside, lead educational initiatives, and support quality improvement programs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert-level medication management and clinical decision support
  • Lead patient-specific pharmacotherapy planning and transitions of care
  • Educate and mentor pharmacy students, residents, and staff
  • Contribute to formulary management, medication use evaluations, and hospital committees
  • Participate in research, protocol development, and continuous professional growth
Required Qualifications
  • PharmD from an ACPE-accredited program
  • Texas Pharmacist license or eligibility within 90 days
  • Completion of a PGY1 residency or 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience
  • BLS (AHA) certification required within 90 days
  • Must meet qualifications to precept residents within one year of hire
Preferred
  • PGY2 or fellowship in clinical specialty
  • Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) credential
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, and IV certification depending on assignment area
