Job description

PRN Weekend Nurse Practitioner

In and Out Urgent Care has current openings for PRN Weekend Nurse Practitioners at our Uptown/Metairie, and Covington/Mandeville locations. Must be able to work weekends at Uptown/Metairie, and Covington/Mandeville locations as needed.

The Nurse Practitioner reports directly to the Lead NP at each location.

REQUIRED HOURS/DAYS: Must work a least 4 weekend shifts at multiple locations. Weekend shift hours are 9a-5p.

Nurse Practitioner – Job description, but not limited to: The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with designated physicians and healthcare team members to provide medical care to patients in the Urgent Care Center. Responsibilities include delivering the highest standard of care in the diagnosis and management of a respective population and participating in the implementation of patient education and clinical support programs to ensure optimal care throughout the healthcare continuum. The ideal candidate must be a team player, excellent communicator, proactive, and must also possess the ability to manage time and stress effectively as it pertains to patient care settings.

Job Duties:

Follows established guidelines which provide medical authority when such are indicated in providing

Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent

Select, order and perform tests and procedures to augment physical

Define/document differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnoses

Documents orders in the EMR (Docutap)system for tests, procedures and the implementation and management of therapies in accordance with medical nursing

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for the plan of care, in collaboration with supervising manager

Oversees directs and supports on-site laboratory, x-rays, and injections, helps if needed

Interpret data and diagnostic results for an appropriate course of action including but not limited to blood work, radiology, EKG, in collaboration with supervising physician.

Perform such procedures as incision and drainage of abscesses, simple orthopedic splinting, pelvic exams and suturing of skin lacerations

Notate findings and treatment course in patient chart including follow-up notes.

Required to work 1-2 holidays a year with availability days, evenings, and weekends to rotate at both locations

Required Qualifications and Skills:

2-3 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN URGENT CARE, ER or PRIMARY CARE

2 YEARS of MEDICAL OFFICE or EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT EXPERIENCE

SUTURING(actively suturing 2 plus years)

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s degree

Must be licensed in the State of Louisiana as FNP

Must have current APRN license in the State of Louisiana.

Skilled in traditional nursing disciplines of patient assessment

BLS/ACLS/PALS certification
