Job description

Position Summary

Under the direction of Shop Leadership, the Shop Tech receives and carries out work assignments from management and internal customers. These assignments support shop operations and the completion of customer orders through the fabrication, modification, and production of metal components using CNC and fabrication equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain fabrication equipment, including Trumpf machinery, to produce quality parts according to specifications and customer requirements.
• Set up and operate CNC machinery, punch presses, and press brakes to fabricate metal components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and manufacturing specifications.
• Perform incoming and in-process inspections to ensure products meet quality standards and customer expectations.
• Measure, cut, bend, punch, and form sheet metal materials accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct basic machine troubleshooting, tooling changes, and routine preventative maintenance as assigned.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
• Complete production documentation and reports in accordance with company standards and timelines.
• Maintain strong internal and external customer relationships through quality workmanship and timely completion of work.
• Demonstrate a continual effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively with other departments to provide a quality and seamless operation.
• Communicate with PM, Manager, or other designee for effective problem resolution and transfer of pertinent information on jobs in process and completed work.
• Work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignments. Receive information from team members and/or leadership regarding customer needs and product requirements and utilize this information to effectively complete jobs.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area; observe all company, local, and federal safety rules, location and company best practices, and company policies and procedures.
• Work nights and weekends as business needs dictate.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• High School diploma/GED and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a fabrication, manufacturing, machine shop, or related field.
• Knowledge of various safety standards such as OSHA and any applicable state safety standards.
• Experience operating Trumpf equipment (TruBend, TruPunch, or similar fabrication machinery) preferred
• Experience operating fabrication equipment, CNC machinery, punch presses, press brakes, laser cutting equipment, or similar manufacturing equipment.
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication, forming, bending, punching, and production processes preferred.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Experience in a machine shop, fabrication shop, manufacturing facility, or production environment preferred.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Proven mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to effectively problem solve and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic computer skills for data entry, looking up information, and/or creating reports.
• Able to communicate oral and written communication skills; follow directions, read work orders and specifications, and work effectively in a team environment.
• Customer focused; able to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and produce a quality work product.
• For positions that utilize a company vehicle, will be required to have a valid driver’s license.

Additional Information

Travel: 0-5%

Compensation: Pay for a Shop Tech is $22 per hour. Full benefits including medical, dental, vision, company paid life insurance, matching 401k, and paid time off for non-union roles.

Physical Demands: Lifting a minimum of 50lbs on a daily, crawling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and working in non-ideal conditions.
