Abilities Network, a multiple year winner of the Baltimore Sun's Top Workplace award, is looking for a part-time Team Leader as part of our Move Management Team. As a Team Leader you will function as the on-site manager of a team that works to pack and unpack household goods and personal belongings, with an emphasis on caring and courteous service to help seniors through the process of downsizing. This is a part-time position which averages 15-25 hours a week, with the possibility of more during busier seasons.

This is a great opportunity to join a growing non-profit organization with an amazing culture and team environment.

At Abilities Network, we cultivate inclusive communities through relationships, innovation and high-quality services. We accomplish this by living close to our values of respect, well-being, reflection and courage and using them to guide our decision making. If you want to contribute to an organization of people passionate about using relationships to support the empowerment of others then we have a position where you can make a difference.

What does this opportunity give me?

  • Work with a diverse population.
  • Work for a company that is passionate about our mission and helping people find their path to independence.
  • Be a part of a strong team and support system.
  • Make an immediate difference in someone's life.
  • Be a part of a growing organization that is a leader in its field.

What will I do at Abilities Network?

  • Function as the on-site manager of Move Management operations.
  • Assist with developing the plan for each move and implement the plan onsite.
  • Supervise staff during the move and direct them in efficient packing and unpacking procedures.
  • Responsible for addressing client concerns and easing the client through the move process.
  • Function as the point of contact for vendors, including movers, auctioneers, appraisers, charity pick-up staff, and clean-out crews.
  • Pack and unpack, by hand, household goods and personal belongings. Use good judgment when wrapping, stacking and packing items into proper containers.
  • Examine and inspect containers, materials and products to ensure that packing specifications are met.
  • Sort materials with input from the client. Provide personal assistance and emotional support to clients as needed.

Requirements

What does Abilities Network need from me?

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Superior customer service skills as well as the ability to be compassionate, empathetic and socially perceptive required.
  • Good communication skills, including active listening skills and the ability to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving of your whole body.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a group to complete daily activities according to the work schedule.
  • Must be willing to be on-call (typically with 2+ weeks notice) as necessary to fulfill the duties of the position. Must be able to commit to completing each assigned move; typically 2-3 days per move.
