Weekend Package Delivery information

What is a weekend package delivery?

Weekend package delivery jobs involve transporting and delivering packages to customers on Saturdays and/or Sundays. These roles are often part-time and can be with major courier companies, local delivery services, or gig-economy platforms. Drivers typically use a company vehicle or their own car, follow assigned routes, and ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Weekend shifts are popular for those seeking flexible hours or supplemental income.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend package delivery driver?

To thrive as a Weekend Package Delivery Driver, you need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and good physical stamina for lifting and carrying packages. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, handheld scanners, and route optimization software is typically required. Reliability, time management, and strong customer service skills help drivers efficiently manage schedules and interact positively with recipients. These skills are crucial for timely, safe deliveries and maintaining customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

What are the most common challenges faced by weekend package delivery drivers, and how can they be managed?

Weekend package delivery drivers often encounter challenges such as heavier traffic, limited access to certain buildings, and unpredictable weather conditions. Managing these obstacles typically involves planning routes efficiently, maintaining clear communication with dispatch and customers, and staying adaptable to last-minute changes. Many companies provide training and technology tools, such as GPS and real-time tracking apps, to help drivers stay organized and meet delivery deadlines safely. Building good time management skills and staying calm under pressure are key to success in this role.

Job description

We're hiring immediately for Professional Package Delivery Drivers to join our unique and growing team. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available to work 3 - 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts from 11:00am - 9:00pm, including at least one weekend shift. Earn $24.50/hour plus performance incentives, $5250/year in tuition reimbursement, along with weekly pay and great benefits.
Speedbox LLC is a local package delivery company and we're looking for high-energy, reliable, and motivated individuals to join our Professional Package Delivery Driver crew. If you're looking for a work environment that values and aims to set the highest of standards in safety, quality and professionalism, we want you!
This Package Delivery Driver role is a physical, outdoors job that involves working at a fast pace with continuous standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting packages weighing up to 50 lbs. To succeed as a package delivery driver, you'll need to be the safest of safe drivers, be self-motivated to work at a steady pace while delivering to 200+ addresses per day and be a positive team member that delights customers at every turn. Our team of professionals are the key to our success, so we'll be celebrating you along the way through every mile!
Why You'll Love Working With Us:

  • Competitive Pay: $24.50 per hour to start plus daily performance incentives!
  • Performance Incentives: We want you to feel our appreciation for outstanding performance where it matters - your wallet! We are excited to offer a generous "Rescue/Sweeper" bonus and/or a minimum of 9 hours of daily pay to any team member that goes above and beyond. Ask us more about this in an interview!
  • Career Growth: We love to promote from within! Lead drivers, driving instructors, dispatchers, and managers-we help you get there.
  • Money for Future You: Continue your education with up to $5250 per year in tuition reimbursement towards college and university classes. You'll also get a 50% match on the first 4% saved towards retirement, vesting after 24 months of employment.
  • Deliver in Style: Our fleet includes some of the newest electric delivery vehicle models, complete with Bluetooth pairing, best in class safety features, heated/air-conditioned seats that keep you comfortable no matter the weather, and more!
  • The Ultimate "Me Time": Once you load up, it's just you, your van, and your playlist.
  • Health insurance, Dental, and Vision (for full-time pros).
  • Two weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year that starts accruing on day one.
What Your Day Looks Like:
  • Morning Huddle: Meet the team at 11:00 AM for stand-up each day, grab your device & vehicle keys, and complete a pre-trip inspection on your vehicle.
  • The Load-Up: Tetris-style! Load 300 - 400 packages for your route as part of the team and get ready to roll.
  • The Route: Navigate through suburbs near Broomfield on a route covering 2-3 neighborhoods and 200+ addresses delivering smiles (and boxes) to our neighbors.
  • The Win: Return to the station by 09:30 PM, high-five the team, and head home knowing you crushed it.
What We Need From You:
  • The Energy: You're a positive, reliable and professional person who can handle a fast-paced day. In this role you will walk 8 - 12 miles per day (that's 20,000+ steps!) while climbing 20 - 40 flights of stairs when delivering packages to the front door of homes in residential neighborhoods and multi-story apartment complexes.
  • The Reliability: Our team depends on you to show up and show out. Drivers must reliably be available to work at least 3 days a week between 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM, and all drivers must be able to work at least one weekend day as part of their schedule.
  • The Basics: Must be 21+, have a valid driver's license, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs (some of those dog food bags are no joke!). You'll also need to be able to bend, reach above your head, kneel, crouch, and stretch at each delivery stop while lifting and handling packages.
  • The Skill: You're a safe driver who treats the van like it's your own. As a Package Delivery Driver, you'll drive a high-roof cargo delivery van safely for 75 - 125 miles per day, while following all safe driving procedures regarding seat belt usage, speeding, and defensive driving. All delivery vehicles are equipped with a vehicle telematics system and dash camera that monitor safety.
  • The Tolerance for Colorado's Crazy Weather: Package Delivery Drivers work outdoors and drive in all-weather conditions and various weather extremes, including hot temperatures, cold temperatures, rain, snow, and high wind.
When and where does this position work:
  • Drivers will be scheduled to work 3 - 4 days a week between 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM daily. All team members must be available to work at least one weekend day as part of their schedule availability options.
  • This position is based at the delivery terminal at 400 W 160th Ave, Broomfield, CO 80023. We are just a few minutes away from Thornton, Westminster, Lafayette, Erie, and Brighton.

Ready to trade the desk for the driver's seat? Apply today and let's get you on the road! We move fast-you could be interviewed and hired within the week. The hiring process requires applicants to complete 1) a written application, 2) a video interview, and 3) pre-employment onboarding steps before you can start work.
