Job description:
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Outpatient Clinic Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in outpatient care, with proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care across various specialties, including primary care, geriatrics, behavioral health, and more. Candidates with experience in medical-surgical, urgent care, or outpatient settings are highly valued. The nurse will play a vital role in patient assessment, treatment planning, and ensuring high-quality care delivery in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
Duties
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations
  • Administer medications and injections following proper aseptic techniques and medication protocols
  • Perform venipuncture, IV insertions, and specimen collection/processing
  • Assist with diagnostic evaluations such as ultrasound, sonography, or other imaging procedures
  • Manage airway and ventilator support for appropriate patients
  • Provide wound care including suturing and ostomy care as needed
  • Educate patients on health management strategies including nutrition, medication use, and chronic disease management
  • Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR/EHR systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance
  • Triage patient needs and determine urgency for further medical intervention or referral
  • Support discharge planning and coordinate with case management for post-acute or home care services
  • Participate in infection control practices and uphold safety standards across all clinical activities
Skills
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
  • Experience with diverse clinical procedures including IV infusion/insertion, phlebotomy, catheter care, and sterile processing
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions such as infectious disease care, trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Center experience), critical care (ICU/PICU), hospice & palliative medicine, and geriatrics including dementia and Alzheimer’s care
  • Ability to perform advanced skills like cardiac catheterization support or dermal fillers is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA and Workers' Compensation Law is essential
  • Capable of working with diverse populations including pediatrics (neonatal ventilator support), adults with disabilities or developmental disabilities, long-term care residents in assisted living or nursing home environments
