General Function
Perform various office tasks which mainly consists of data entry, scheduling, and progress tracking.
Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Data entry for Truist Honors Scholars; program completion tracking; enter and set up tracking (completion status) for the Truist Honors Scholars.
  2. May enter information into the computer system; may review entries for accuracy; set up events schedule in the online platform, schedule appointments, and scheduling rooms for events, send reminders for honors program events/activities, and record their attendance at the events.
  3. Creates and updates unit files; pulls and re-files records; purges inactive files, maintains the honors program for computerized databases, updating and purging records as needed.
  4. Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
  5. Assess and address student and scholar needs proactively and effectively.
  6. Skilled at prioritizing assigned tasks, staying organized, and following through to successfully meet deliverables.
  7. Communicates with Truist Honors Program Scholars, events, and marketing as assigned.
  8. Responds to inquiries and requests involving some use of independent judgment to fit situations and facts with established guidelines; serve as an informational resource to staff.
  9. May monitor inventory and supplies and fill out orders as needed.
  10. Answers phone; provides information and explains procedures; refers call to appropriate person; takes messages; screens requests for supervisor.
  11. May research inquiries by contacting an appropriate person for further information; may contact questioners to provide answers.
  12. Selects and mails form letters, brochures, and other prepared correspondence.
  13. May type and proofread memos, correspondence, and other printed material.
  14. May gather and summarize information; may produce reports.
  15. The Honors Program Staff works with the Honors Program Coordinator to ensure that all program responsibilities are managed effectively.
  16. Support and/or organize Honors Program events, activities, and sessions as needed (in-person and virtually).
  17. Requires a consistent, physical presence in our designated honors space.
  18. Other duties as assigned

Reporting Relationships:
Direction Received:Reports to Honors Program Faculty Director
Works collaboratively with the Honors Program Coordinator.
Direction Given: Shared responsibility for the supervision of honors scholars, including during travel.
Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment
  • Knowledge of computer and office applications
  • Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • Experienced in Canva to design event materials, presentations, and digital content.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).
  • Strong communication skills with responsiveness to urgent matters and travel requirements that occasionally occur outside of standard working hours.
  • CPCC & Honors Program graduates eligible-Current/active honors program scholars ineligible

Preferred Qualifications:
Data entry (General knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets), strong communication skills, ability to work with students and adapt to their needs and the needs of the honors program. Takes initiative, can work independently and on a team. Canvas experience is a plus.

Working Conditions:
  • 28 hours per week/4 days per week (between 8a-8p). Many hours are 9a-4p.
  • Typical office environment; Minimal remote work (responding to communications or scholars' needs while they are traveling or attending events/activities outside of common hours).

? Morning, afternoon, and evening hours may be required depending upon planned events and travel.
? Travel generally occurs on Thursday-Sunday; however, there may be mid-week travel. Travel is scheduled in advance.
  • Flexibility required for occasional evening events, weekend programs, and periodic travel (local and domestic) to support student participation in engagement experiences.
  • For non-exempt employees, time spent traveling outside of regular working hours is generally not paid.
