Salary Range: $58,977.96- $78,735.58

General Description and Classification Standards:
Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty diesel equipment and vehicles. This role requires a strong mechanical and technical background, experienced with heavy machinery, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. As a diesel mechanic, you need to be safety oriented.
The ideal candidates will have industry/dealership experience and proficiency with automotive and engine diagnostics, hydraulics, and electrical systems at a minimum. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse equipment including farm machinery, loaders, industrial equipment, excavators, cranes, and tractor-trailers to name a few. The Diesel Mechanic understands working in a true safety culture and will ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently, supporting our operational needs.
 

This comprehensive role requires a dedicated professional capable of maintaining high standards of safety and quality while supporting our fleet's operational excellence.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.
Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, air brakes, suspensions, hydraulics, turbines, pumps and HVAC systems.
Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and wheel alignments.
Fabricate and modify parts using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques as needed.
Repair and maintain heavy equipment including excavators, loaders cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery.
Read schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical issues.
Utilize diagnostic tools to identify problems with vehicle systems and implement effective solutions.
Assist in the assembly and disassembly of equipment for repair or upgrade purposes.
Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures during all maintenance activities.
Assist in development and implementation of technical specifications
May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Proven mechanical experience working with heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, loaders, or farm machinery.
Strong background in automotive diagnostics and repair of diesel engines.
Knowledge of transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and electrical components related to heavy machinery.
Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
Familiar with new technology.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience -
1. High School Diploma or GED
2. Three (3) years of demonstrated experience in heavy duty diesel / automotive repair
including one year at the journeyman level in the repair and maintenance of gas- and diesel powered heavy trucks, road maintenance equipment, and other related equipment.
3. Experience with schematics reading and troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical 
systems.
 

Licensures and Certifications -
1. Diesel Mechanic certification(s).
2. Must possess and maintain a valid GA Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a "P" 
Endorsement.
 

Preferred Requirements -
1. Dealership experience is highly preferred.
2. Prior experience working in a service technician role with customer service skills is 
advantageous.
3. Degree in Diesel Technology, Automotive Technology or similar 
Work Environment:
Occasionally lift 50 pounds or more, must be able to work with tools on vehicles lifted above head, work 
in tight spaces, walk/bend/stand/sit for long periods. May experience excessive noise. Work indoors and 
outdoors. Schedule shift may include evening hours, weekends, inclement weather, and holidays.
