Job description

***This job has preference to qualified local job seekers within 60 miles of our Axis Platteville, CO facility.

The Haul Truck Driver (CDL) is primarily responsible for the operation and maintenance of haul trucks to load, unload, and transport cargo during rig move operations, and at designated locations. 

Success in this job will have heavy haul experience and a demonstrated safe record of driving a flat bed, straight truck, pump truck and transports (acid, cement and nitrogen) and other workover and completions equipment to rig sites.  Additionally, this position may support in the shop to the Shop Mechanics and Shop Hands and rig personnel/Field Crews (if work experience eligible) in their efforts to support internal and external customers.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Haul Truck Driver (CDL)

  • Transport equipment between Axis facility and customer(s) locations.
  • Maintains and correctly performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on designated vehicle and equipment on every trip.
  • Performs all transportation truck driver duties using correct methods and processes.
  • Correctly performs equipment inspections on location prior to job end.
  • Ensures that loads are secure.
  • Document each transport and/or pickup on a field ticket.
  • Log hours of service (driving) each day.
  • Pickup and/or deliver shop supplies, rig supplies, or rig equipment with a shop truck.
  • Help with the cleaning and maintenance of Axis facility which includes the shop, wash bay, removing scrap materials and moving equipment.
  • Help as needed with the cleaning, maintenance, and testing of all workover equipment (mud pumps, power subs, BOP’s, TIW valves, mud tanks, rental tools, etc.).
  • May assist management, mechanics, or shop equipment hands in their support efforts.
  • May work as additional relief on field equipment as designated by operations management; position selection of eligibility is dependent on work history, training and experience.
  • Follows and supports all Axis PPE policies including knowing the uses of proper PPE.
  • Has the ability to stop work due to unsafe conditions or situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Notifies Supervisor within 24 hours of any driving violations on and off work.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

    • Must have valid, active state-issued Class A commercial driver license (CDL); endorsements a plus.
    • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
    • Work may be performed in all weather conditions; understands when it is safe to drive, despite adverse weather condition.
    • Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and written; English preferred.
    • Ability to interact with others in a team environment.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once.
    • Basic math skills and problem solving and organizational skills.
    • Basic computer and writing skills.
    • Must be able to work a varied schedule and travel as job requires.
    • Excellent customer service skills, to provide world class value to customers.
    • Reliable telephone (cell phone) communication and transportation.
    • Ability to clear/pass DOT drug and alcohol pre-employment testing requirements.
    • Ability to clear/pass DOT compliant post offer physical and job-relevant screens.
    • Receipt of proof of eligibility to work in the United States, as required by law.
    • Salary Range - $26.00-$29.00 hourly DOE

      Physical Demands and Work Environment

      • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. frequently and perform team lifts or assisted lifts as needed for heavier materials and equipment.
      • Must be able to climb ladders and access equipment up to approximately 15 ft.; bend, stoop, twist, stand, squat, crawl, walk, and reach as required during loading, unloading, rig-up, rig-down, and equipment maintenance activities.
      • Must be able to stand or walk for extended periods and sit for extended periods while operating commercial motor vehicles and related equipment.
      • Must have sufficient grip strength and manual dexterity to secure loads, operate valves and hoses, connect/disconnect iron, handle tools, and perform equipment inspections.
      • Work is performed in field, road, shop, and outdoor environments, including exposure to temperature extremes, weather conditions, moderate noise levels, heavy equipment, moving vehicles, and oilfield locations.
      • Must be able to safely operate CDL-required equipment, including bulk cement trucks, winch/flatbed equipment, 40-foot floats, and related completions equipment, consistent with DOT and company safety requirements.
      • Must be able to pass DOT drug and alcohol pre-employment testing, DOT-compliant post-offer physical, and job-relevant screens, including vision, hearing/audiogram, musculoskeletal assessment, pulmonary screening, drug screen, and functional capacity evaluation as required for the role.
      • Typical work schedule may include 12-hour shifts, field rotations, travel up to approximately 75%, nights, weekends, and after-hours work as business needs require.
