Dominion Hospital, the only freestanding mental health facility in Northern VA, is seeking an experienced Eating Disorder Nurse - RN to join our talented team! The Eating Disorder Nurse - RN is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive and compassionate care using established nursing models.

What You'll Do
  • Assesses, monitors, and documents patient conditions, responses to treatment, and changes in status throughout the continuum of care.
  • Administers medications, treatments, and nursing interventions in accordance with provider orders, established policies, and professional standards of practice.
  • Evaluates patient safety risks, pain levels, and potential signs of abuse or neglect, initiating appropriate interventions and reporting concerns as required.
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates individualized, evidence-based plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Provides patient, family, and caregiver education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, recovery goals, self-management strategies, and discharge planning.
  • Leads and coordinates care delivery by delegating responsibilities appropriately, supervising assigned team members, and promoting effective teamwork.
  • Utilizes the nursing process and psychiatric nursing standards to provide age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented care.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and support systems to promote recovery, improve coping skills, and support positive mental health outcomes.
  • Facilitates individual and group education related to mental health, substance use disorders, relapse prevention, crisis management, stress reduction, and wellness promotion.
  • Demonstrates competence in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and the safe application of seclusion or restraint in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Promotes patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and patient experience.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Participates in professional practice activities, shared governance initiatives, continuing education, and ongoing professional development.
  • Supports organizational goals through responsible stewardship of supplies, equipment, staffing resources, and operational efficiency.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma-Required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing-Preferred
Licensure: Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or a multi-state compact license, as applicable.
Certifications: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required and Crisis Prevention Institute required as a part of the general hospital orientation
Experience: 1+ years of applicable experience-Required
