Job Description

Shriners Children's Chicago is seeking a full time Mentored Scientist to join the Shriners Clinical Research team!

Shriners Children's Chicago offers specialized care for a wide range of pediatricorthopedic,bone and joint conditions, including rare diseases and syndromes. Other specialties includespine and scoliosis care,plastic surgery,cleft lip and palate care, comprehensive rehabilitationandspinal cord injuries.

This is a three year grant funded position.

Key Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the PI, assist in designing experiments.
  • Assist in the development of experimental protocols and techniques.
  • Develop appropriate hypotheses and methodologies for the research.
  • Assist with the education and supervision of surgical residents and other laboratory personnel.
  • Develop skills to obtain third-party funding for research initiatives (i.e. NIH).
  • Assist with data management and development of data for presentation and publication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in related field required
  • Knowledge of: Data collection and analysis; Transgenic animal management; Statistics Cellular and molecular biology; Computer programs, spreadsheets, graphics programs, and word processing.
  • Ability to: Communicate effectively in public; Collaborate effectively with investigators; Direct and supervise in accordance with the PI laboratory personnel; Effectively analyze and manage program budget; Employ writing skills to assist in developing grants; Assist with the planning of new laboratory operations and long-range development

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year Research experience preferred

The pay range for this position is $84,676 - $127,004.

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
