Overview
This role is responsible for leading the Restaurant Service (RS) and Transportation Backend DevOps team for the supply chain vertical business lines (VBL's). The team is responsible for delivering the backend components of multiple products:
  • CFA Supply App - Android/IOS/Ipad app the puts supply chain in the hands of restaurant Operators and enables amazing customer support.
  • RoutCFA App - Android app using by drivers and transportation managers. This is a critical app that guides drivers through nightly deliveries and safety related processes.
  • Supply Hub - Web Based Portal to implement master data configuration, Ad hoc communications to restaurants, restaurant onboarding, and transportation related business processes.

This highly productive team delivers releases in an agile fashion to continuously improve existing functionality and deliver new functionality. This is a DevOps team, so the team provides 24/7 on call operational support for all developed solutions. The leader of this will need to ensure the team designs for failure and intensely addresses root cause and fixes issues to ensure the operational load stays low on the team as the system load and complexity increases.
This team works closely with multiple business partners, product owners, designers, and front-end engineering teams to create and support impactful products.

Responsibilities
  • Own solution architecture decisions for the team's product
  • Lead delivery and operations of the team's product, including both individual contribution and support as well as delegated tasks and support to your team's engineers. We desire our lead engineers to be both leads and engineers, spending about half of their time on leading others and half contributing engineering work themselves.
  • Lead, mentor, and assess other staff engineers, exemplifying and teaching best practices, helping to solve knotty problems, reviewing code, and sharing stories
  • Interview, select, onboard, and oversee contract engineers
  • Assist in the design and delivery of products outside of your team, develop tools and processes for use outside of your team, and/or mentor other engineers or especially lead engineers outside of your team
  • Guide partner-led engineering workstreams, contributing to solution design and code reviews
  • Guide engineering team in adoption of Chick-fil-A software engineering standards
  • Identify & propose emerging software engineering technologies, methodologies and/or approaches
  • Drive Operational and Engineering Excellence for the DevOps team.
  • Gain deep understanding of business processes across Supply Chain so the team can maximize impact and operate at a high level.

Note - Working in a DevOps model, this opportunity includes both building and running solutions that could require off hours support. This support is shared amongst the team members to cover weekends and weeknights. The goal is to design for failure and, using cloud-native infrastructure patterns, automate responses to possible issues so they can be worked during normal hours.
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Experience designing complex software solutions
  • Expert-level knowledge in design and programming using Python and/or Golang
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based API's.
  • Experience with SQL and data modeling.
  • Experience implementing application security, software design patterns, and the SDLC.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications with Kubernetes and AWS Cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience mentoring and leading a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to positively influence the engineering culture and practices in a professional environment
  • 4+ years relevant work experience in a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
  • Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired
  • Experience with test-driven development, continuous integration and deployment, Scrum discipline, or comparable software development practices
  • Deep understanding of AWS technologies and cloud native architecture.
  • Experience with multi-region deployments and the associated complexities and tradeoffs.
  • Deep knowledge and experience programming with Python and Go.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and CNCF related technologies
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting technologies and SRE concepts.
  • Experience working with an agile development methodology featuring sprints, points estimation, and daily standups
  • Experience in design, data collection, and data analysis
  • 7+ years relevant work experience
