What is a weekend nanny?

As a weekend nanny, your duties entail providing childcare and completing household tasks for parents. In part-time weekend nanny jobs, you work a Saturday-Sunday shift. You may commute each day to the house or stay there for the weekend. Your responsibilities vary depending on the unique needs of the children and parents for whom you work. You may care for one or more children only at the home, arrange and participate in activities, prepare meals, supervise homework, transport them to events, or run errands for the family. Other duties can include cleaning the home and helping bathe and groom children.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a weekend nanny?

To thrive as a Weekend Nanny, you need experience in childcare, knowledge of child development, and often CPR/first aid certification. Familiarity with scheduling apps, communication tools, and sometimes light housekeeping equipment is beneficial. Patience, reliability, and strong communication skills help build trust with both children and parents. These skills ensure a safe, nurturing environment and smooth coordination with families during weekend care.

What are some common challenges faced by weekend nannies, and how can they be managed effectively?

Weekend nannies often face the challenge of quickly adapting to different family routines and expectations in a limited timeframe. Because weekends may include special activities, outings, or irregular schedules, flexibility and strong communication with parents are essential. Building rapport with children quickly, maintaining consistency with house rules, and managing transitions smoothly are key strategies for success. Staying organized and proactive in discussing plans with the family can help ensure a positive and productive weekend for everyone involved.

What is the difference between Weekend Nanny vs Babysitter?

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Competitive Pay: We offer a starting base pay of $15–$17/hr DOE. Your earning potential increases substantially based on the number of children in your care, specific job parameters/type of shift, and specialized certifications you possess (such as Newborn Care Specialist training, behavioral therapy backgrounds, or special needs experience).
  • Flexibility & Balance: We believe a healthy work-life balance is essential. Whether you are a student, a parent, or navigating any other season of life, we work closely with you to build a schedule that respects and supports your individual needs. For those who value consistency, we have recurring placement opportunities with specific families. If you enjoy variety, we have various short term or occasional opportunities with different families to fill your schedule.
  • Reliable, Weekly Pay: Enjoy the peace of mind that comes with direct deposit every single week, featuring an option to access your earnings up to two days early.
  • A Supportive Community & On-Call Shifts: You are never isolated out in the field. You will have backup support from the office at any time during your shift.
