In weekend music video editing, the 80/20 rule suggests that roughly 80% of the final product comes from 20% of the editing effort, emphasizing the importance of focusing on key clips and impactful moments. Prioritizing essential edits and effects helps streamline the process and produce a polished video efficiently.

How much do music video editors make per video?

Music video editors typically charge between $200 and $2,000 per video, depending on factors such as project complexity, experience, and the client's budget. The 321 rule in video editing suggests that the first 3 seconds of a video should grab attention, the next 2 minutes should deliver core content, and the final 1 minute should include a call to action or closing. For a music video editor, applying this rule helps maintain viewer engagement and ensures the video flows effectively. It emphasizes pacing and structure, which are essential skills in editing music videos efficiently.
