Job description

About Hook
Hook is a social music platform, backed by top-tier investors, building the next generation of music discovery, fan expression, and creator growth. Fans use Hook to legally remix, mashup, and reimagine the songs they love, then share their creations with the world. We work with artists, labels, and rights holders to turn passive listening into active participation.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Social Media Lead to own Hook's voice and presence across every platform. You'll develop Hook's content strategy, building an editorial calendar around cultural moments, holidays, and the music moments that matter. This is a role that requires both strategic management and hands-on execution: you'll run complex workstreams across agencies, influencers, and artist partners, and you'll also be responsible for ensuring each post that goes out is well-drafted.
What You'll Do
  • Own Hook's social content strategy end to end: aligning with our brand and product marketing narratives, and building out an editorial calendar built around cultural moments, holidays, and key music moments (releases, tours, award shows, industry takes).
  • Be the voice of the brand: write sharp, culturally fluent copy across TikTok, Instagram, X, YouTube, and emerging platforms, and set the copy standard for everyone who posts on Hook's behalf.
  • Lead influencer and creator strategy, from sourcing and negotiating to briefing and managing creators, plus UGC campaigns and amplification that turns fan-made content into a growth engine.
  • Drive artist and label partnership activations, working with partners across the industry (labels, management, DSPs) on social collabs and campaign moments.
  • Manage our external agencies and creative collaborators for content creation and media buying, including briefs, creative review, performance ads on social, and holding partners to a high creative bar.
  • Support social influencer campaigns: work with Head of Growth to plan and allocate budget across organic, creators, and paid, and report on what it returned.
  • Oversee community management and social listening: set the playbook for DMs, comments, and trend-flagging, and manage and mentor our social media coordinator.
  • Plan and run integrated campaigns around product launches and marketing beats, coordinating in-house and agency workstreams.
  • Define what success looks like: set KPIs, build reporting on growth, engagement, and conversion, and use the data to decide what we do more (and less) of.
  • Bring a strong creative eye: art-direct content, give sharp feedback, and keep everything unmistakably Hook.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 3-5 years in social media, with time spent leading strategy AND executing it. You've grown brand channels yourself, not just overseen decks about them.
  • An exceptional copywriter with a distinctive voice and the range to flex from unhinged TikTok caption to polished partner announcement.
  • Deep, lived fluency in music and internet culture: you know why a sped-up remix is charting and which fandoms are driving it.
  • Proven experience managing influencer/creator programs and external agencies (content and/or media buying), including budgets and performance social.
  • Experience running community: DMs, comments, fan moments, and the judgment to know when to lean in and when to stay quiet.
  • Strong project management chops: you can run multiple complex workstreams across internal teams, agencies, and partners without dropping threads.
  • Comfort with analytics: you can read platform data, report clearly, and tie social work to business outcomes.
  • A manager (or manager-in-the-making) who can develop junior talent.
Bonus Points
  • You've worked at a record label, DSP, or music-tech company, or directly with artists and their teams.
  • Existing relationships with music creators, influencer agencies, or label partnership teams.
  • Hands-on content creation skills such as short-form video editing, design sensibility, or on-camera comfort.
  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth consumer app.
Why This Role Is Exciting
You'll be the voice of a brand that lives at the heart of music culture, with the freedom to shape how millions of fans first meet Hook. This is a lead role with real room to grow: as Hook scales, you'll build out the social and community team underneath you, with a path toward Head of Social or broader marketing leadership. If you've been waiting for a role that combines your love of music, internet culture, and community building at a platform shaping how fans express themselves, this is it.
To apply, send us your resume plus 2-3 examples of social work you're proud of: accounts you've run, campaigns you've led, or posts you've written.
