Position Summary

Records classroom language sessions between fluent speakers and students of varying ages and fluency. Compiles, edits, and produces recordings for use in home to assist in native language learning. Helps Tiwa Language Coordinator to organize community events and work with the community and parents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Recording of language sessions presented by fluent speakers.
  • Edits and indexes language sessions into one or more recordings.
  • Maintains all cameras, lights, editing equipment, and sound equipment used in the program.
  • Assists in the coordination and operation of community events for the language program.
  • Keeps all recordings and supplies in neat and accessible order.
  • Generates reports, statistics and records of materials, and use of materials.
  • Ensures ongoing operation of departmental multi-media equipment.
  • Preserves archival documents consistent with industry best practices.
  • Provides regular reports regarding new archival acquisitions and methods of accessing.
  • Work is normally performed on weekdays, including evenings, some weekend work will be required. Performs other duties as requested.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all team members and are expected to report to work based upon the assigned scheduled each day in accordance with the Attendance Policy for Pueblo Sandia.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Preference will be given to tribal members because of sensitivity surrounding the language.
  • Must work well with children, older people, and parents.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with using recording equipment and with effective editing and production skills.
  • Able to instill trust with children and fluent speakers in assigned recording sessions.
QualificationsEducation and Experience

Required:

  • Associates Degree in Journalism, Media Production, or the Graphic Arts.
  • Two (2) years of multi-media or related experience.

Note: Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

License/Certifications/Registrations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a stringent background investigation and character investigation in compliance with PL 101.630.
  • Will require a pre-employment and random drug screening.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
