The Graphic Designer position, is part of the Product Development team and would collaborate with various stakeholders within the department, Sales, Business Development, and our R&D Team overseas to develop manufacturable 2D/3D graphics and patterns/colorways for structural designs for our NPD/ODM products. This is through methods such as ideation, visualization, concept render, preparation of design for manufacturing sheet, and prototype analysis/revisions.

  • Responsible for the following developments methods: 2D/3D graphic design research, ideation (brainstorming), concept/development design and refinement, layout/presentation, render proposals, graphic treatments/applications, and prepare design for manufacturing sheets (design sheets) which includes layout, detail callouts/drawings, and graphic treatment details/assets assembly; prototype sample analysis and revisions
  • Work with Senior Graphic Designers on seasonal trend reports that aid development seasons and to identify new product opportunities. Furthermore, establishing โ€œgraphic guidesโ€ by collecting and updating relevant company process/limitations that will aid as guidelines for future reference and new employee onboarding
  • Identify and propose projects that help and improve upon the departmentโ€™s design, communication, and execution process. Including, projects that can aid with interdepartmental processes and methods
  • Apply 2D/3D graphics within a structure design framework (or die-line) that considers cost, safety, printing size, manufacturing/printing limitations, feasibility, and market (trend) desirability for the following inflatable categories: watersports, furniture, toys, etc., also includes injection molded and metal frame products
  • Utilize development methods in two main company sectors: New Product Development (NPD), which focuses on developing new catalog products; Original Design Manufacturing (ODM), which focuses on client-based modification request
  • Collaborate with the Product Development team, such as Product Managers and associates, Product Design Manager, Product Design and Innovation Director, Industrial Designers, other Graphic Designers. Additionally, collaborate with other departments such as R&D, Sales, Business Development (Original Design Manufacturing) and Creative Service Team (branding, packaging, and catalogs)
  • Continue to update/improve knowledge in relevant software and design related tools
  • Participate in multidisciplinary environment/focus groups or surveys
  • Maintain an organized file system for the department
  • Provide and receive constructive feedback to and from all team members
  • Follow directions and execute manufacturable based solutions, with detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrate eagerness to learn through curiosity, trial & error, teaching others, and sharing the latest trends, methods, and application relevant to the field of product graphic design
  • Elevate assigned categories by staying up to date with market competition and trends
  • Execute a proactive workflow to provide baseline projects ahead of the primary development season
  • Cultivate a close partnership with Product Managers to stay current in your assigned categories internal strategies, market maps and matrices
  • Teach other design members the nuances of your categories to diversify the teamโ€™s knowledge and create a designer backup system
  • Help maintain and update the internal R&D design manual and all other processes and procedures used by the department
  • Update the internal project tracker weekly with the most current information
  • Identify and execute projects (style guides, design instructions) that help and improve the departmentโ€™s design, communication, and execution process, including projects that can aid with interdepartmental processes and methods

Competencies:

  • Skilled in the ability to use relevant Adobe Creative Suite software/render programs, i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop, Keyshot
  • Knowledgeable of manufacturing processes/application of graphic treatments and printing process on 3D structures; experience in inflatables or relevant products, e.g., watersports, outdoor toys, furniture, or pools is a plus, including, general knowledge high frequency welding or relevant process
  • Skilled in analog/digital communications such as sketching and prototyping
  • Ability to adhere to timelines, collaborate with all stakeholders respectively, and communicate effectively by presenting ideas in a visual interesting way that would gain support of the product development team and other departments
  • Actively listen to creative critique and demonstrate understanding through successful application to projects
  • Independently follow directions and execute revisions with a high level of accuracy

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time hybrid position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Required in-office Mondays and Wednesdays. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel: <10% travel, including international.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in graphic design or similar field with 3-5 years of experience
  • Alternatively, associate degree with 5-8 years of professional design experience
  • Portfolio demonstrates ability to own project deliverables, generate refined concepts, collaborate cross-functionally, and execute high-quality design solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365: Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, OneDrive/SharePoint using Windows or Mac OS
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software/render programs, i.e., Illustrator, Photoshop and Keyshot
  • Experience with designing graphics for toys or related types of consumer products a plus
