Summary of Position:The Mining Engineer is responsible for development and maintenance of reporting systems related to both internal and external stakeholders, serving as a Short-Range & Mid-Range Engineer, and assisting with development of designs for both development and production.
Upon completion of initial development of reporting systems, responsibilities will evolve into maintaining the reporting system and standards along with coordination of internal Engineering Department reporting, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Responsibilities but not limited to, will consist of coordinating with Mine Operations, Survey and Geology and developing the short-range mine plans. Under supervision, the Mining Engineer will develop stopes, drifts, and infrastructure designs. They can also include help maintaining the ventilation and dewatering plans assisting the Ventilation Engineer. Key interfaces include Southwest Critical Materials Team (Management, Technical, Operations, and Support Staff) and mining related contractors.
Responsibilities and Duties:Reporting Systems:- Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports that are consistent with the generally accepted operational reporting standards.
- Maintain healthy, open and collaborative relationships with operational groups
- Set clear and achievable expectations to ensure reporting deliverables are provided on time.
- Interdepartmental coordination of reporting requirements
Relief Short Range Engineer:- Provide relief support to Short Range Engineer (Production and Support)
- Ensure shortrange plans achieve mid and longrange and/or business objectives
- Coordination and delivery of monthly and threemonth mine plans
- Ensure timely and quality delivery of level and related mine plans
Mine Designs:- Develop infrastructure and drift designs
- Create stope designs and subsequent drill and blast packages
Mine Ventilation and Dewatering:- Plan, design, and maintain the mine’s ventilation and secondary escape systems to support mine production
- Plan, design, and maintain the dewatering system to support mine production

Experience and Training:The candidate must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Mining Engineering
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in underground mining environment preferred
- Previous mining construction and / or startup experience well regarded
- Familiarity with relevant MSHA underground mining specific standards
- Familiarity with Deswik mine planning software, preferred
- Familiarity with Deswik UGDB and stope software preferred
- Familiarity with Ventsim Design software preferred

Position may require weekend or evening work depending on organizational and operational requirements. Ability to work extended hours as operational needs require to support projects.
