The Journeyman, Millwright - Top Drives, is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Precision Drilling's top drive systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role works closely with the Foreman and Top Drives Manager to deliver high-quality maintenance and repair work while supporting operational excellence and equipment reliability.

DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • Perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Top Drive systems, including capital repairs, overhauls, new builds, and certifications
  • Read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose issues and complete repairs
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, equipment testing, alignment, and hydraulic/pneumatic troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Manage spare parts inventory, investigate equipment failures, and maintain standard inspection and repair procedures
  • Provide technical support to field personnel, collaborate with operations and vendors, and travel to field locations as required while upholding Precision Drilling's safety standards and core values

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Registered Red Seal Journeyman Millwright with a completed apprenticeship or equivalent combination of trade education and experience
  • 4+ years of industrial mechanical experience; relevent rig experience is a requirement
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems with exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong commitment to safety, including knowledge of OHS regulations, WHMIS, and proper PPE practices
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, mentor apprentices, and safely work with heavy equipment
